Like me, many of you are switching to the Incredible from another, older, less awesome phone. Some of you may even be moving to the Inc because you've had it with your current phone. But before you consider taking out your frustrations on your old phone by answering the age-old question, "Will it blend?", consider donating your phone.

There are many organizations that will put your old phone to good use.

Here in Raleigh, NC, an organization called Interact helps victims of domestic violence and will accept donations of used cell phones.

Interact of Wake County, North Carolina (there may be similar foundations in your area)

You can also donate your phone to be used by troops overseas.

Welcome to Cell Phones for Soldiers!

So before you think of just throwing away a piece of technology, consider how it may benefit someone else.

    Thanks for bringing this up.

I sold my last phone, and keep the one before that in the car for emergency calls.

Thanks for posting this. My family has donated phones in the past; much better than tossing them or letting them sit in a box :)

Would have donated my LG EnV but I gave it to my younger brother. He needed a nice sturdy cheap phone for his first cell phone.

My company goes through cell phones like candy. I handle all the IT and electronics for my company and I send any unused phone to the troops. I send them phones, boresnakes, otter pops (they love those!), Crystal light packets and other helpful things. I try and help as much as I can. I have a lot of friends who came back from the sandbox so I have heard all about the hardships of being there and they need our support.

Not sure how useful our old Verizon (CDMA) phones will be to troops overseas, but it's still a noble gesture.

When I got my Incredible, I sold my Storm 1 for 73 bucks via wirefly....no I didn't get my phone there, I got it through Verizon. But I looked around, and other than ebay, I figured I'd probably get a better deal there. It was less than or about what I paid for it, so I thought it worked out okay.

Same here. We all are on the same upgrade cycle I think. 18 months from now we'll all be getting the same new Droid with our NE2 upgrade

I had a dare too and might sell it on ebay soon.

  17. Great advice, Samuel, thanks! I came over from a Blackberry Curve but my sis-in-law laid claim to it to replace her didn't-quite-survive-the-rinse-cycle Curve.

Of course, now she's dying for a Droid!
