Can you add apps to use in Multi Window mode?

No. Only certain apps work. Part of Samsung advertised apps being disappointing.

Sorry for my incorrect answer. I'd asked this same question only about a month and a half ago, and no one pointed out that software.

Thanks guys. It's really stupid to have a good feature like Multi Window and not be able to use it with any app from the factory. Thankfully I'm rooted.

Beyond that, there's no reason that most people would want to use the apps together that they do allow to be used.

What you can do is ask the developer to add multi-windows to the apps you would like to use. Handcent just releases a new update with this feature. (Works great.)

Just like most of the Sammy features

Don't get me wrong, I love the phone, but I don't use most of the advertised things. Smart Stay, Smart Scroll, Air View,

First thing I did with my s3 was get rid of samsungs bloat. :D:thumbup:

There's actually a really good reason as to why you can't add apps to the multiwindow pane, and its probably got a lot to do with Google not wanting them to.

At any rate, the stock apps you can use it with are pretty worthless.

I've said the same thing in this forum many times (although I do use Smart Stay).

That Samsung MWM app seems pretty neat, but I think it'd be a lot more useful on a tablet (large screen) than a phone.

There are actually many many apps compatible with multi-window that are not Samsung apps. Another forum has a great, updated list here. Several of those are very useful to me.

That said, it is up to the developer to get his/her app compatible, and there are many that are not there ..

Is that list posted anywhere you can view without registering on the site?

Here is the post from the other forum as of now. Best to just register to see it updated. The post has links to each app as well ...

This is a list of apps which are compatible with the Samsung Multi Window feature for non-rooted devices & non-modified apps. Please help make this list as complete as possible. If you know of any apps that aren't on the list, post them (preferably with links) & they'll be added. This is not the place to request an app be given compatibility. It's best to go into Google Play & request it there by leaving a review &/or using the email link the developer provides. This list thread is provided as a courtesy & absolutely no guarantees are inferred in any way.

Below the compatible apps list is another list of apps that can further make use of the Multi Window feature. They likely won't show in your Multi Window panel.

For a user guide on the Multi Window feature, scroll to the bottom of this post.

I didn't say only Samsung apps worked in multi-window. What I was trying to say is that multi-window is another Samsung advertised feature that is disappointing.

I also didn't say that none of the apps that work with multi-window are useful. I said I have no use to use two of the apps that will multi-window at the same time. For example, I'd like to use Navigation and a music player at the same time in a car. I can't. That's what makes the feature useless.

The feature is completely useless to me, but even reading press reports and seeing advertising there was no way for me to know that prior to buying.

Can someone who has multi-window mode working flawlessly please post a screenshot of 2 (preferably non-Samsung) apps running side-by-side on his/her S4? TIA.

Thanks. I wonder why I can't get Dolphin to split for me. I installed Multi Window Manager and have root on my phone. I have Dolphin Browser and Color Note, as 2 apps that are "Enabled". There are several in the Enabled Packaged section and all of the apps names have "(Native)" at the end. The vast majority of my apps are in the Disabled Packages section. I haven't changed the enabled/disabled part yet, just mentioning what the defaults are.

Ahh, I feel so silly. As the late Steve Jobs would say, I was doing it wrong. This tip shows you how to use MW mode. (If no tip appears, search for "Using Multi Window" in that search box.) I'm now able to see Color Note and Dolphin on the same screen. That said, as I said in a previous post, I don't see myself using this often due to the screen's small 5" screen to view more than 1 app at once. But it's good to know about this feature, and since my phone is rooted, good to know I can put some other apps on that left side.
