Hello, This is my first android phone and i was wondering how you put music on the LG Optimus Elite. I've googled it and the only way that i know of is to use that Play Music app. IS there anyway i can put my music from my computer onto the phone without using that app? And if so or not, can you please tell me how to do it? or give me a link to a place that will tell me how? Thank You.

    Windows 7?

    1. Connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable that came with the phone.

    2. On your phone, a prompt should appear on the phone asking you to select either "Charge only" or "Mass storage" modes. Select "Mass storage" and tap the "Done" button at the bottom of the screen. A prompt will appear titled "Turn on USB storage." Tap the "OK" button.

    3. At this point, you may see an Autoplay window pop up on your computer. If so, click on the option which says "Open folder to view files." If you aren't prompted with an Autoplay window, you should be able to open Windows Explorer's "Computer" window. You should see two new drives listed under "Devices with Removable Storage" which were not there before connecting your device. Double-click on the first of the two newly listed drives to open it.

    4. At this point, you should see a listing of folders on your device's internal "sdcard" beginning with the ".android_secure" folder. Create a new folder here (the main drive, but not inside the ".android_secure" folder) and name it "music" or whatever you choose. Copy your music files to this new folder you created. Disconnect your phone.

    5. On your phone, your files will be saved to /sdcard/music or /mnt/sdcard/music (unless you named the folder something other than "music"). If you have a File Manager installed on your phone like Root Explorer, you can easily browse through and see the files on the phone in these locations. Note: /sdcard/music and /mnt/sdcard/music refer to the same location.

    6. Open the "Music Player" app which came with your phone. You should see your music files available here.

One recommendation: If you have a removable microSD card available to you, then save your music on that instead so you don't use up your phone's internal memory. (You would need to remove the back of your phone [where the battery is] to access the microSD slot and insert a microSD card.)

    I hope this helps.

Okay on 4 do i have to put the Music folder into the .android_secure folder? or do i put it along side the list of folders?

Please read the updated post. I only mentioned the .android_secure folder so you would know you're in the right place and I didn't want to waste time listing every folder or posting a screenshot. It was just for reference.

"along side the list of folders" is correct.

Of quick note, the built in file viewer that comes with the phone is called Polaris Viewer. And it is not half bad.

Ha. I didn't even realize it was a file manager. I assumed it was a stripped down version of Polaris Office, but I never actually checked.

    Thanks for the info.
