I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I thought it was pretty cool.

If you hold the bottom sound button for 1-2 seconds it'll turn all the way to 0. I'm not talking about the ringer, but music or other media.

    Go ahead, try it!

Play some music with the music app, and put it all the way to the top. Doesn't matter speaker or headphones. Hold the bottom sound button down for 1-2 seconds and the sound will be muted.

um yeah.. not to be smart or anything, but anything with a volume button will do this, including your tv or car radio

Am I missing something? I do this and it does what I thought it did, just turn the volume all the way down by the regular increments. I watch the green bar go down until it is on mute. Hopefully people know about the volume toggle....

Better trick is, while using a browser, push vol up or down to scroll the page up or down.

    Not what the OP meant.

On mine when I hold v.down it will actually jump the volume from 10 to 9, then immediately to 0.

Far different from my Focus or Incredible where it will actually tick down through each number (10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6, etc.)

That sounds like it changes volume. I just want to shut up the ringer or notification sound, but only while it's playing, and not making changes to any settings. Previous Samsung phones did this with the volume buttons.
