My attempt to get a new battery.

    My battery life is awful, so I wanted to fill everyone in to the process I used to try to get a new battery.

    1. Called TMO, they only warranty the battery for 90 days, so they gave me Samsung's phone number.

    2. Called Samsung @ 888 987 4357, they gave me an RMA to ship my battery back for testing (7 business days time frame)



    I'm on my way to a TMO store now to see if they can help me out, or sell me a battery so I can send the original to Samsung. I'lll update the thread as more steps are taken.

    GL I think there were some bad batteries that were shipped out. I was lucky to get a replacement within the 1st month of owning it. (got 2 now)

    Also it's been mentioned that the Omina (pro?) and Moment Batteries are the same. and are pretty easy to find online for ~$10-15

    The TMO store couldn't do anything. So I did find a Moment battery on Ebay for just under $20 (plus a discount using Deals & Coupons - Earn Cash Back When You Shop.. You were right, Moment batteries are listed cheaper than Behold 2 models.

    Also be very careful when buying a non-Samsung battery, I noticed that all of them were rated below 1500 mAh, some as low as 1000 mAh. So while these replacements are much cheaper, they also store less power.

    Once I get this replacement, I'll mail my battery back to Samsung.

    I read about a couple weeks back that the new update locked out non Samsung Batteries. Don't know how accurate that was.

    T mobile sent me a new battery and charger after a month owning the phone I used the online chat to do this. I find it is easier to get returns and parts for free that way.

    I just did the same thing yesterday and now T-mobile is sending me a new battery and charger it should arrive in 7 days. The thing is that I'm out of warranty as T-mobile only covers battery for 90 days. But I'm getting the replacement for free. Gotta love chatting with customer service online.

    Grr Buying A Retail Battery Can Cost A Fortune ;)
    i Tried Buying A Battery At A Local Phone Retailer,
    And They Said It Was $40 ;
    Apparently They Believe That The Price Is "Cheap" ; :eek:
    Keep In Mind That "ADVANCED TASK KILLER"
    Saves Your Battery, IMMENSELY !
    Can Be Found In The Android Market :D
    Better Looking On E-Bay Or Craigslist If Your Lucky .
    Of Course If You Have Insurance, Then Go Right Ahead ! :p

    Online chat didn't work for me, they used the 90 day warranty line.

    I have a few more tricks up my sleeve to try later..

    I guess it depends on who you get. The guy I got knew I bought the phone in November and that the 90 day warranty for the battery was over but he still put the order in for a new battery at no cost.

    Well I think the no sleep bug was a major problem for me. To see if your phone is really sleeping:

    1. Lock the screen & wait at least 5 minutes
    2. Press Menu
    3. If nothing happens, you are sleeping - If the screen turns on, reboot

    My battery has been lasting much longer now, I'll post some stats in a few days once the battery is properly calibrated.

    Just out of interest, what did you guys tell the CS rep? Battery charging issues or something else? Just wondering if there is some "magical' set of words to use...

    Well I told the rep I spoke to that my battery was lasting around 3-4 hours on a full charge. Then he told me to take the battery out and check for physical damage. I said there is no physical damage and he put in an order for a new battery.

    After many calls to TMO, I finally took the "nuclear option" and told the CSR I was going to cancel my account. They transferred me to Retention, and a really nice (actually everyone at TMO has generally been nice) guy ordered me the battery. I'll report back with my findings after I use the battery for a few days.

    FYI, if you won the BH@ from Samsung, it is noted in the TMO system as not being shipped from TMO.
