HTC Hero.... about 6 months old. never near water or dropped
Battery was about dead about 7% left.
I left my outlet charger at home, so friend lent me his blackberry USB cable.
I plugged in the hero to the usb to the computer ( phone was on at the time) as soon as I plugged it in the screen went blank and the charging light turned on
But a pop up came on the computer saying USB was not recognized.
I clicked and device manager said the usb device attached has malfunctioned , please reconnect.
So I did.
Same scenario.
I left it a bit ( 20 min) tried to turn it on bu it woudl nto turn on, I disconnected the battery and still the Hero did not turn on.
What should be my next step?

I have reconnected the Hero and now the charging ligh has not come out.
Almost as if the phone has fried? I'm running XP and dont think the computer has the Hero drivers but XP is not automatilly finding the drivers like it usually does.
