    Is there any way to reboot this phone? will verizon store take it back? I rdained the battery last nite,recharged and today worked fine,went to sleep, woke up lookrd at phone and was cycleing the droid start up screen. was very hot on back!WTF!
    Just got it a week or so . will they take it back? no ins. many apps installed.

    Yes. As long as there isn't any signs of moisture damage or physical damage it'll be exchangable.

    Thanks everyone. They exchanged it without any questions.
    Just wondering though,what caused this? Yesturday I did many things with the phone
    1-did the ##xxxxxx dial thing to improve call clarity. didn't notice a difference.
    2-installed about 30 apps. I picked the ones I thought I might like or thought would be useful. (including the hand warmer)
    3-played my music and left the screen on untill the phone powered down. Actuall said, 15% and to recharge or something.
    4-recharged,used the phone to make a few calls/texts
    Thats it,went to sleep for an hour,woke up and the phone was hot as hell! And just cycled as if were starting up.Showed the starburst,then flashed DROID, then just kept repeating that over and over. Let it cool with the battery out for a half an hour twice and nothing. Just did the same thing over and over.
    I gotta assume it's an app I installed or something. Hand warmer?
    Any how they gave me a new one. Thank god. I didn't get insurance.
    The best thing is GOOGLE or my sd card stored all contacts,ringtones and apps. I'm not sure if storing all the apps is a good idea though. What if that is the problem,one of the apps.
    Well i'm back in buisness now. What a scare.

    the handwarmer app would scare the hell out of me. getting any device too hot is not good for it.

    Yeah scares me too. I removed it.Pretty stupid of me to install that one.

    Hummm.... an app to warm your hands. Not being a Droid owner, makes me think why? I mean you can see the screen or use the keyboards if it's doing what it's suppose to be doing, (warming you hands), and where would you have to be to use it? In a snow storm...freezing rain, after falling through the ice?

    Wonder what the power drain would be, with an app that throws up a heated force field? I mean really, if I'm cold I wanna heat all of me, not just my hands. :rolleyes:

    I had thought for certain that this hand-warmer app was just a joke, but it's for real? I am bashing my palm on my forehead right now.

    The biggest problem I see with users sometimes is that they don't bother to read what an app does and what it does not - and what it needs and what the end-user can adjust.

    There are tons of great apps in the market - but more than a few require you to have certain knowledge in order to use them, and yet folks who have just gotten the phone are enticed by (usually) their peers to use this app or that without any explanation as to why they should use it, or, even more importantly, how they should use it.

    Some of this rests on the developers' shoulders - they either expect their users to be smarter than what they really are, or else they do not include very detailed instructions, expecting the user to already know most, if not all, of the required and relevant background information.

    However, some of the onus is on the end user as well. Unless you live in extreme cold environments (and let's face it, right now, the Northern HemiSphere is anything but cold, and the Southern one is getting over their cold now), I cannot really see a need for this app. Not right now at any rate.
