I have been with boost for a very long time and i have always hated there phones. so much so that i actually got another phone hooked up on a CDMA network.
Once i got the Motorola i1 there was no need for another phone.
Yes is may not be 3g compatible but i do not need to watch you tube videos on the go. i am fine with email and the occasional internet browse.

I have had the phone for three months now and i think i have gotten all the flaws and perks down.

    1. ++A PLUS++On an iDEN network you always have to wait for your texts to download before you can view them which is very frustrating but with the Motorola i1 it is a thing of the past. yes it still downloads texts but the download is a lot faster and i rarely have to wait.

    2. --A NEG--Most apps that i download work great on the i1 but i am having laggy problems with a few of them. such as Paper toss, (terrible lag) and gameboid Which i am still unsuccessful to get a single game to work.

    3. ++A PLUS++ Many apps that you wouldn't dream of actually work on an iDEN network. Google maps is a great app and though you have to wait a bit longer for maps to load it is still great considering all the money saved on the monthly bill.

    4. --A NEG-- I Do not know if this is my phone in particular but trying to charge the phone plugged in via usb cable to computer is just stupid slow and worthless. It takes way to much time and i try to stay as far away from charging through a computer as possible.

    5. ++A PLUS++ Considering all the big bulky phones that boost and nextel have the design of this phone is great. It is easy to use and just feels comfortable. The fact that this High end phone actually runs while still meeting military standards is great. i drop the phone every once in a while and don't get any problems with it, case never comes apart, and screen doesn't get messed up as easy.

    6. --A NEG-- The Touch screen does not work when the phone is plugged in. when i have the phone on the charger it is near impossible to do my unlock pattern and it is not a hard pattern to get past.

This is my lowdown of my phone. if you have any answers to my problems or if i can answer any of your problems i will. Just before i bought the phone i would have loved to see some information like this so i hope it helps.

It does, but I saw some weirdness in this area myself at first. It seems to have gotten over it, though... or maybe it's that I've adapted to the phone; I dunno.

hehehe I suppose I could post another i1 +/- review type thingy. =P

Okay first of all the phone itself if you were a past iDEN user or maybe even if you just like all the features and the ruggedness of the entire package. Is fricking great I myself think it's a nice piece of hardware iDEN or not
    positives
the obivious on all iDEN phones nice speakerphone and PTT

5MP camera/camcorder with panoramic stitching and other editing options. Absolutely think this feature is awesome. (camera broke on first phone was completely my fault though =p)
Holds up to a 32gb sd card, wifi, pic texting, gmail/exchange/imap4-POP3, android and opera web browsers.

All things I like and utilize with the phone on almost a daily basis. There is a few other things but I'm not about to get into every little detail.

    negatives
iDEN its slow but with wifi it works but is hard to utilize everything you would want to when on the go. (But like I said pre i1 users of the network should already know this.)

Android OS 1.5 it's a little outdated but works for the first time android users. (But lets see an update to at least 1.6 people i.e. Motorola and Google.

I can honestly say that the OS's older version(1.5) is the only real issue I have with the phone and hope it gets the update it deserves.

Nice i like to see that i finally found a forum that doesnt take 2 weeks for a reply. but yeah the android 1.5 software really is outdated to many people but if you have not had an android then it seems great. when my phone plugs in it does still work with touch screen but it does not compute as well. i like the phone alot and for an iDEN product it is a revolution. i love how my speaker on the phone far surpasses the strength and sound quality of the iphone as well. Now just waiting for Motorola to update the O.S.

And about my gameboid comment i have seen online that the I1 may not have a strong enough Processor to run majority of the GBA games. any insite or suggestions to expand on my on going problem?

Hi wassup everyone I don't usually do furums but felt somewhat compelled to join...after all...I'm android status now baby!!! lol. But seriously though from a more bang for your buck type of consumer and optomists point of view the i1 is TRULY the best of both worlds, I've seen idiotic people whine about why they didn't put the i1 on a cdma or straight up "3g" network???...well...simply.......BCUZ THEN IT WOULDN'T BEEEEEEE THE I1 NOW WOULD IT???????.....it just be "another android phone"...what makes the i1 unique and for me PERSONALY puts it in the latest and greatest one of a kind VIP category along with the Droid X, EVO 4G, and dare I say "iphone" lol...is where as all THOSE phones share similar qualitys as their MAIN FOCUSES are to attract consumers with all of the "look what I can do" type of features with the GIANT SCREENS that are although from a technological standpoint REALLY NICE I won't deny..but at the same time as I stated b4 u have those THREE PHONES and various others with similar marketing shemes to choose from, but at the end of the day...each of them are just various types of personal multimedia devices which happen to SECONDLY fuction as a working PHONE!!!!!...I'm all for technology but isn't your personal COMMUNICATION device supposed to fuction as just THAT first and everything else you get is a BONUS? Lol...and THIS!!!!!! fact is what makes the i1 unique, one of a kind and overall VIP, its the first smartphone prepaid or not EVER!!!!! to utilize ALL MAIN FORMS OF COMMUNICATION and wrap them in a stylishly sexy yet MILITARY GRADE tough and durable fully functional with the lowest yet most potently valued servce bill you could want...$50.00. this is the ONLY android and SMARTPHONE PERIOD in the world which let's you TALK, TEXT, EMAIL, and MOST IMPORTANTLY has the ability to communicate via the third main for of PHONE COMMUNICATION...that's right....WALKIE TALKIE!!!!!!...and for all the whiners complaining "BUT THE IDEN NETWORK IS SLOOOOW"...well i'll say to u simply.....uhhhhhhhhh.................u DO know the i1 comes with a little thing called WIIIIIIFIIIIIIIIIIII built IN right????????...which MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR THE "SLOW DEFAULT" NETWORK SPEEDS THAT YOU GET WITH "IDEN PHONES"...LOL...so basically us i1 users traded in "STANDADIZED 3G OR 4G SPEEDS"...for the added ability to have THE THIRD FORM OF PHONE COMMUNICATION POSSIBLE!!!!...on OUR PHONES!!!...while STILL being able to get 3g+ speeds far as network connections go via WIFI!!!...so lookin at the situation like that i would trade DEFAULT 3G speeds ANYDAY for the added ability to use a walkie talkie while STILL being able to achieve "fast" network and data speeds even it IS through wifi... :)...and all this is possible...on my (ONE OF A KIND) BOOST Motorola i1 Android PHONE lol... :)...

P.S. its not the i1's fault the gameboid won't run properly because our i1 is MORE than capable of running a gameboy emulator as well as android 2.1(when we get it ;))...just search for "droidemu" in the market preferalby in the SlideMe android app market if u cant locate it in the pre installed market place...not only does droidemu run near PERFECTLY and NEVER force closes but its pretty much an all in one emulator as well(NES,SNES,SEGA,GBC,GBA,GAMEGEAR all in one:) )...and just incase Ive also aquired the ability to play YOUTUBE vids in my browser on my i1 as well if u haven't already :b lol just let me know if u need help n my email is bezdapharoh@gmail.com

    LOL that explains it. =P

@Nhty: Here this may be a little more helpful

    1. Download "youtube.apk" on your computer.
RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
Save it to your Motorola i1 SD card

2.Enable installation of non-market apps on the phone.
    Settings---Applications---Check "unknown sources"

3.Download and intall "Linda file manager" in the android marketplace.

    4. Open linda file manager, navigate to your sd card and install youtube.apk

    5. Enjoy

How to install/enable youtube on the Motorola i1

posted it the way it was posted on forums but you really don't need to install "linda's file manager" being that "quick office" is pre-installed and does the same exact thing.

@ndroid: For future reference its considered some what rude by most forum users to just post a file link without any explanation or link/s to were you found the solution and just expect people to trust you.
