Well one of those things are a lie. The wizard might have started and I exited it by accident, as I turned on and off the phone after first start. I have done some form of reset by dialing *2767*3855# but I have not been able to do the factory reset by pressing the power button while holding the volume down button. It just won't work.

You will find a duplicate thread on the SGS group in these forums, If you answer here please ignore it.

I have solved it. For all struggling with this you:

    1) Turn off the phone.
    2) HOLD Home Key (Middle One) and Volume UP! NOT DOWN!
    3) Press power key while holding the buttons above until you see the Samsung Galaxy S I9000 text
    4) Then let go of the power key, but continue to hold the volume up button (one facing top of phone) and the home key
    5) You should see a text based menu, select factory reset, this wipes both the cache and the user area. Select it with the volume rocker and the home key.

I have done the second part now. From looking at an SGS first boot and a Nexus One first boot, it doesn't appear to auto startup on the SGS. However seeing the N1's first boot up with the touch the android config program, after you touch the android it goes to the config program which can be found in settings (press home key) ==> About Phone ==> System Tutorial. I am still a bit confused as why the manual said the android would pop up on first boot yet it didn't :S

Actually Ignore that, the first screen looks the same but it didn't have the same stuff on it the N1's one got you to set up the google account, the SGS just showed you a useful thing about using the keypad.
