I have an unlocked Nexus 1 - a gift from Google in February. I haven't used it since March, because of some e-mail issues. It seems to work fine now, so I'd like to switch from my iPhone. Back then, I was told that it would work on AT&T, but not in 3G, and that therefore T-mobile was a better choice. Is that still true? Why?

TMobile and AT&T use different frequencies for their 3G networks. There are two different versions of the Nexus 1...one with a radio designed to use the TMobile 3G bands, and one to use the AT&T 3G bands. Since yours has the radio to connect to the TMobile 3G network, it will be unable to connect to the AT&T 3G network (though voice and EDGE will work fine).

back then they had not released an ATT version of the nexus. now one exists which will support ATT 3G, so you would have to buy the correct version of the nexus to use ATT 3G.

tmobile uses 1700mhz/2100mhz for 3G. ATT uses 850/1900mhz. that's the difference.
