Hey guys, I'm having a hard time deciding my next phone. I can get these phones at the same price:

    - Nexus One
    - HTC Desire
    - HTC Legend
    - Sony Ericsson X10

I've been lurking around the internet and came to conclusion that the N1 and Desire are the best, with the Desire slighly more powerful. Now, I don't quite like HTC Sense, I totally LOVE the N1's UI.

But I may be wrong, so which one should I pick up? Which has less problems? Also, is Froyo coming to the Desire?

Google is discontinuing the N1, will I have any problems with that when it comes to support and upgrades?

P.S: Sorry about creating a thread that probably has been made a hundred of times, but in this case money doesn't matter. :p

For me it'd be between the Nexus One and Desire. They're more powerful than the Legend, and my GF has the X10 and I don't like it as much as my Desire.

There's very little to choose between the Desire and Nexus hardware-wise, the Desire has slightly more RAM but I don't know if that translates into a real-world benefit. HTC have confirmed that Froyo is coming to the Desire, "in Q3 2010" but if you prefer the UI of the Nexus it sounds like that's what you should go for.

AFAIK, Google is no longer going to sell the Nexus, but I would have thought that it as it's made by HTC it would be them that supported it.

The Nexus one has been discontinued now,
    The Legend is last gen,
The X10 only runs android 1.6,
So for me your only choice is the Desire,it is an excellent phone and if you dont like sense you can easily download an alternative home launcher.

Edit - Yes froyo has been confirmed for the Desire and will be coming sometime this year.

I'm based in the uk so can't comment on all phones, I own the X10 and my mate has the desire.

The desire has a touch more ram and multi touch, the X10 has no multi touch but a burger screen and will get 720 hd video in the next month or so and well get upgraded to 2.x by the end of the year.

Watching my mate using pinch zooming just looks painful on his phone and often swears when using it and the X10 might only have 1.6 but sony tweaked it so much that it does 90% of what 2.1 does in fact the only difference we can see is 2.1 is a little bit quicker with game graphics and a slightly better battery life but the X10 has a 4 inch screen to the desires 3.7 so this will drain the battery more.

No advice on what one to go for as I don't like the look and feel of the desire but I don't like being behind on the OS, but sony will up date soon.

Why not? They are all available over here.

It's between the N1 and the desire. They are very similar and, if you don't mind rooting, the only real differences are minor hardware ones.

My gf has an X10 and, although I like it, it isn't quite as good as the Desire.

The Legend looks very smart if you like that sort of thing, but has a smaller screen and isn't as well specced hardware wise as the N1 and Desire.

Just thought the nexus was not in the uk?

Each to their own on the phone front and by the time there are a few more posts the the op will be just as unsure lol.

Now if I could combine the X10 and desire I would have the phone I want but as they both run the same snapdragon processor the X10 wins for me on screen size.

The N1 isn't discontinued. Vodafone UK is still selling them.

True enough. I think these type of threads would be a lot more informative if the OPs actually told us what was important to them in a phone.

If the OP had said that the camera was very important then the X10 would have been more recommended by me, I'm very impressed with the camera on it. Certainly better than the one in my Desire.

I would highly recommend the X10,once it gets 2.1 its going to be an absolute beast. In its current state it may only be 1.6 but as said before SE have customized it so much that its hardly missing anything in 2.1 ,SE Marketing Manager also mentioned it getting further OS updates so we may see 2.2 on it as well.
