Verizon allows you to upgrade to a new phone at discount pricing 12-14 months into a two year contract and gives you your New Every Two credit about 18 months into the contract.

The Verizon Wireles website NE2 pricing for the Droid right now is $119 and for the Incredible is $169. You're getting the standard upgrade price of $149 for the Droid and $199 for the Incredible which is the same as if you were signing up for a new contract.

    Incredible:
    Full Retail Price $529.99
    Price with 2yr contract $299.99
    Online Discount -100.00
    New Every Two Discount -30.00
    Your Price $169.99

    Droid:
    Full Retail Price $559.99
    Price with 2yr contract $249.99
    Online Discount -100.00
    New Every Two Discount -30.00
    Your Price $119.99

I just copied that from my own account

Verizon put out a press release saying they are letting people upgrade early that might not be eligible yet. I think it is Verizon doing battle with AT&T advancing iPhone owners upgrade dates and Sprint allowing upgrades every year.
