I've searched and cannot find this topic. Does anyone know how to get Google Navigation to enter "Car Dock Mode"?

It's mentioned on google's site. Is it for the Droid only at this point or other "dock aware" phones?

I suspect the Google Car Dock was replaced with HTC's version. Or, maybe we need to wait for that special car dock, like they show in the video at your link for the Droid.

On htc they've replaced it with Car Panel. Its essentially the same thing but is layed out abit differently.

I think you're right. I just looked again, and noticed that for the search to work for navigation, you say "navigate to" and then the location. That's what I was hoping to do. Thanks for making me look again.

Car panel stinks because it only displays in portrait mode. Is there any way to ditch that in favor of the original car dock mode? I've got the latest Evo handset.

    Thanks!

I use Vlingo. It has a car interface that is awesome and works in portrait or landscape. Combine it with Poynt and you'll never get lost or turned around. In addition, Vlingos text to speech (works for texts and emails) is very impressive.
