Root Need Help, Confused

Ok so this is my first phone and I would like to root my phone, The problem is that I have no experience whatsoever and am worried about bricking my phone

I have so far not been able to find any clear instructions as to how i would root my phone.

Also does rooting clear data, if so is there a way to get around it?

rooting does not clear data it is perfectly safe unless you do the rooting letter by number
so use superoneclick to root go to all things root on the forum in the moto atrix section to see how to root

U do not need an unlocked bootloader to root

You only need an Unlocked Bootloader if you wish to flash custom ROMs
