need help getting unplugged

After using gmail, syncing personal event details to google calendar, and the personal details of contacts synced, I'm starting to get pretty uncomfortable with having all this info stored on an outside database. Can anyone point me to some apps and methods that can sync calendar events and contacts to my home PC rather than this cloud app stuff?

I don't bother syncing my contacts. If I make any changes I export them to my sdcard, and I make periodic backups of my sdcard to my PC.
Go to the contacts app - menu - more - import/export.
