The Droid is really easy to root, though. Don't be sad.

Really really easy to root, then you can uninstall, move, install, overclock, underclock, change the font, change the color of the notification bar/clock/date, remove the date from the notification bar, etc, etc etc...do or change almost any you want in the phone.

But make sure you read what your doing and ask questions if you don't understand something before doing it because it's really hard and I mean REALLY hard to brick a Droid but I'm sure it still can happen.

Well the EVO community had the option to root today...on the official launch date. I would be willing to bet that ALL popular Android phones will get root access at some point fairly soon after launch (3 months max). The rooted communities are getting pretty good with the Google software and where there's a will, there's a way! :D
