I have been trying to decide whether or not to return my droid again (this would be #5 (or 6-- can't keep track))
i listen to music all day and the head phone jack keeps on crapping out on me.. (ie causing a lot of static when i touch the headphone jack) -- its been happening for a while but i have been ok with a little static here and there -- have my droid rooted and don't want to deal with unrooting and re-rooting a new one, so that is part of the reasoning i have been holding off on getting a new one -- plus this one is a solid build (minus the headphone jack -- no crashes, etc)

Anyway, a few days ago -- my droid fell of its night stand and hit the ground the wrong way -and now i have a little crack in the screen now :(
---in addition to that the head phone jack has gotten worse over the past few days making it almost unmanageable to listen to..

so -- with all that being said,
-what are people's thoughts on if i was to call up to get a replacement droid stating this one is busted in the headphones (again -- which it is!).. do i bring up the cracked screen while on the phone -- or just say it was busted during transportation because when i sent it in,-- it was fine.. -- looking at it straight on, it is hardly noticeable

--or do i bring it into a store and see what they say.

    --any thoughts?
    Thanks!

maybe you should look into bluetooth head sets..... just a thought

Oh, and be honest. Don't lie about the condition of the phone... you do have insurance on it don't you?

no insurance, in my opinion it is a waste.
~10 a month plus another ~75 to take out a claim? ...i would rather find a used phone off ebay for ~200 if this one 100% didn't work (as it stands the issue's are just annoyances, well.. as long as the headphones don't get any worse)
--seeing as how this would be 5th phone i have gone through for the same problem... i wonder if it would make any difference.
-- i only signed a 1yr contract also so, in another 5 months i will be eligible for a new phone anyway.

i have tried bluetooth headphones but cant find anything that is comfortable and a reasonable cost.

its not the headphones, its the jack -- i have tried ~5 different pairs.. read through some threads on headphone jack problems... there are a lot of phones that have the same problem ... the jack they put on the droid is just a POS.

If your Droid is faulty, get it replaced. I would look into some bluetooth headphones since you are having so much trouble.

If you intend to commit fraud, you might want to keep that to yourself.

I've never had a single problem with the headphone jack. I use it all day, and I plug the phones in frequently. Sometimes I think these problems are end user related.

I've taken two back because of the same headphone problem. I'm not hard on them, they just junked out.

Go to the store, explain you want a new phone because of the headphone jack. They will see the crack, and honestly, if the crack doesn't bother you, and that's not the real reason you're returning it, then it shouldn't be an issue. I don't know how other Verizon stores are, but mine is awesome. I went thru 7 BB Storms... one time it was because the button on my back pocket put a dent on the plastic over the camera and my pictures were blurry because of it, I told them I use the camera ALL THE TIME and it was really a nuisance, and they swapped it out with no problem. The phones are mass produced and there is a fail rate that is unavoidable, which we all know. Thankfully the staff at Verizon seems to be pretty understanding of that too.

I returned my first droid because of a faulty headphone jack. The people in the Verizon store came up with no end of excuses to not give me a replacement. They only gave me one to get me the heck out of the store because they ended up pissing me off pretty bad... ended up yelling at them... loudly :D
