Netflix app on Android updated to work on 24 models including Galaxy S, Droid 3 (update: tablets too!) -- Engadget
I had to download the .apk from the xda link, and enable installs from "Unknown Sources", but its working pretty well over AT&T's 3G. Video buffered a few times at startup, but played smoothly for the 5 minutes that I watched. I did a test earlier on my Sensation 4G, and after 10 minutes of viewing (IP Man 2 ), I checked my data usage via T-Mo's account management app. The 10 minutes used 80MB of data, or roughly would have been 720MB-750MB for a full 90min movie. I later logged into my Netflix account (haven't made any account changes since starting in Dec. '10) and noticed that you can adjust bandwidth/video quality to:
Good - 0.3GB/hr.
Better - 0.7GB/hr.
Best - 1GB/hr. (2.3GB for HD)
I'm not sure if the online account video quality settings affect the Android app. and there are no "settings" to adjust locally. It also seems like its not optimized for the higher res of the Sensation, and is much less "blocky" looking on the Defy, esp. on subtitles.
