Just in case anyone's missed the Facebook Live announcement... the most interesting thing for me so far has been the updated Android App...

It's live in the Android Market now, if it doesn't show up straight away, go to Settings - Applications - Market - Force Stop & Clear Cache then look again...

Apologies if this has already been posted, I looked in a couple of boards and couldn't see anything...

Just showed up in the market for me without anything special. It wasn't showing up about 20 minutes ago.

    Will try it now.

I'm assuming there is no chat and that many actions still just open your browser and take you to the fb touch site.

Lots of details are being revealed right now... the Android app will finally get check-ins, etc. Single sign-on appears to be the big thing. Check out the running live blog on engadget:

All I get is a blank white screen with this 'update'. Lovely. Oh, wait, it just took about ten seconds to load. I'm not impressed. It's slow as molasses, the pictures still aren't loading, why can't Facebook for Android not suck???

Don't really see any changes other than the places and groups icons being added.

Hopefully, this is at least a sign that the Android app will get some attention and will catch up to the iPhone app eventually.

Pictures taken in portrait mode still get uploaded so that the picture is sideways on facebook.

Does it show notifications for comments in the standard Android notification tray or does it still keep all of that it's on notification tray in the app?

The latter. Under settings, it only shows notifications for the same 3 things (events, requests, messages).

    On the updated iPhone version.

Android users need to access it via touch.facebook.com in their browser.

Wow, so we get places in the app today, but in order to fully use it, we still need to go to touch.facebook.com.

    Wonderful.

This is the biggest reason I didn't like using the FB app, but now I'll likely use it more often!

Exactly. Facebook is the only app I've used that DOESN'T utilize the native notification tray. The irony is that Facebook is also one of the most notification driven apps out there. So dumb.

New FB app still SUCKS and now Bloo is gone! Why is it so hard to make a decent FB app for Android? The Blackberry and iPhone apps are so much better! I just want notifications sent to my phone without having to use the Fb text messages!!!

I had this problem with the old app too, but does anyone have an issue when updating pictures or statuses? They don't show up in my or other's news feeds.
