Maybe I'm late, but there is a new over the air update for the evo. It fixed the only thing I hated about the evo. Poor quality scrolling and screen transitions. My evo scrolls like and iPhone now!! Not sure what else is in this update as I just performed it. Go to settings updates/software updates.

Hello and Welcome to the Android Forums, gabe, and thank you for that report about the update.

I've put your post in the Evo forums where there are more members interested in an Evo update.

Little late to the party, came out last week. Yeah the update removed the 30fps cap which is prob what you are noticing now.

Ughh... I really want this phone, I think I may have to just get it at the Sprint store since they're the only ones that have it in stock in my area. Best Buy BETTER have some in stock tomorrow!... or I'll do nothing and just go to Sprint :)

Even though you are late on the software update, there was a PRL update released this week, so be sure to check that as well.

Looks like the finger-tracking of the screen is still stuck at a lower rate that is less than the improved FPS.

So when you drag the screen with your finger constantly touching the screen, the screen is still pretty jerky and doesn't really track smoothly when you scroll.

But to really see the smooth effect of the FPS uncap when scrolling, drag and "flick" (lift your finger off the screen) so you release the screen and watch it scroll by itself using inertia - buttery smooth. If you don't finger your screen, it scrolls smoothly.

So dragging the screen to scroll with your finger in constant contact is a real "drag" on the FPS :) Better to flick-scroll by relying on the inertia to do buttery smooth scrolling at max FPS.
