Strange! I did the update almost straight after getting the phone on 1st April's. Done a scan, but it doesn't say anything new available! Maybe your phone is over optimistic..... lol

There is a firmware update due in the next few weeks called R2BA013 which is suppose to improve performance and battery usage among other things.

Was hoping the update was that...maybe next time ;)

    Just a quick question.

When the new firmware eventually arrives and I update my phone, am I right in assuming that I'm going to have to re-download all the apps and games I've installed?

Also, if that's the case, what about those I've purchased?

The firmware *should* update without loss of applications or settings. Though thats not for definite and even if it should, there is no guarantee it will do

As for the apps on market, if the phone does get reset when you log in again to market, all your previously downloaded apps should be in the downloads section like normal and you can just re-download them to the phone. This includes ones you have bought and paid for (I factory reset my phone when timescape was glitching the other week to see if that fixed it so know you can download paid for apps again)

I was speaking to SE support yesterday about volume issues and the guy said there would be 1 or possibly 2 "minor" updates before the september release of Android 2.1

aaahhh ok so unless you phone is debranded you cant update it yet since rogers hasnt relased the update yet. but from what i been reading update 16 has better battery life and fixes the keyboard input and is peppier

update:there is no version 16 for the x10a officially yet.

it is available for the x10i but unless your carrier has released the update you cant get it unless you debrand your phone.

unlocked and debranded are two different things. unlocked lets you use it on other carriers besides the one it belongs to. debranded makes it belong to no carrier.

here's a few question before i debrand my phone...

    1. Doesn't it void my phone's warranty?
    2. How could i know the region of my phone(HongKong, Nordic or UK)?
    3. What region should i debrand my phone to HongKong, Nordic or UK?
    4. Is there a difference between the three regions?
