    Hi Everyone,

Just got my new phone (Samsung Galaxy S i9000) yesterday after having a Nokia E65 for 3 years, so I'm pretty hyped!

I jumped on here to find out about a good 'To Do List' app with due dates & reminders, which I'll search your previous posts after I write this.

I'm sure I'll be referring to this forum a lot til I get this thing figured out, but in the meantime, can anyone explain in Dummies terms what a 'Widget' is. I don't really get the Wikipedia explanation!:eek:

    Thanks,
    Ang

Welcome to Android forums! A widget is different from a shortcut. A shortcut is just that, you hit the shortcut and open a program. A widget is an actual app on your desktop that does something like tell the time, show the weather, keep up with and display Facebook or Twitter, show your battery power left, show your phone's temperature, etc.

    I hope this helps.

And to bootstrap off this thread, I to am a new owner of a Galaxy S 4G from T-Mobile. Finally get tired of my HD2 after a year of problems and so far this is a great phone!! I"m familiar with Android and not afraid to play with the phone so I'm burning up the market and having a ball. Anyone have any advice on what to watch out for or whats cool? Thanks ya'll!
