I finally caught a break yesterday and had the housing replaced on my Hero. I went to the local sprint store a few weeks ago and asked if they could fix my phone. The chrome piece around the charger area had broken away and the aluminum keypad was peeling away around the keys. The store manager said they try to help as much as possible, and would make small repairs, but didn't have any returned Heros in the inventory. I was as polite as possible and asked if I could call him back and see if any come in within the next few months. He said sure, perhaps thinking I wouldn't follow up. So yesterday, I dropped in and asked a sales associate if they could repair. I kept the Store Manager's card, telling them that he gave the ok to repair if there were Hero housings in stock. So, BAM, they replaced everything in 1 hour and I now have a new-ish feeling phone! I'm eligible for an upgrade, but no way I'm buying up with the current crop of phones. Not worth the $200 plus 4G fees.
