"I just got back from a Sprint meeting, where the reps offered me a peek at the pre-release beta of the Epic 4G, the carrier’s much-anticipated Galaxy S phone. I managed to shoot some footage, so while I’m working on editing and uploading that, here are some pics to whet your appetite (below).

This Sammie phone is the only Galaxy S with a front-facing camera (1.3 mp) and rear camera (5 mp), along with an LED flash. Like the name suggests, it’s a 4G/3G phone that packs in several goodies, including a hardware QWERTY keyboard, Super AMOLED 4” screen, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, Wifi b/g/n, hotspot functionality, TouchWiz 3.0 and Android 2.1 (upgradeable to 2.2, “Froyo”).

Sadly, Sprint didn’t have availability and pricing yet, though the Android blogs today have been positing August 11th as a rumored date.

    More to come. Stay tuned!"

Very cool. I wish the corneres were less rounded, but not squared off like the eve. Somewhere in between.

Ugh, finally something new. Thanks for posting it. Gives me a little more fuel in the tank to hold me over until release. All the other pictures were getting stale.

Only thing I'm not sure about is the specs on the front facing camera. Everything else I've read has it listed as a VGA. This is saying 1.3mp

Check out the bottom left hand corner of the keyboard. There's a smiley face key for texting! That's handy :)

I am befuddled by the 1.3 mp camera... how is that possible? Everything out there says VGA...(.3)...

Noah probably cut his finger again, that's an obvious typo.

My guess is that they're the notification LEDs.

You know, like if you get a text it'll flash. Something along those lines anyways ;)

They look like the Moment's sensors... Ambient light, Proximity, and something else sensors

Yeah I think the one near the camera is the Notification LED. That leaves the three on the other side of the phone, which are in the exact same configuration as the ones on the Moment. I actually think two of them are combined to make the proximity sensor, and the largest one is the ambient light sensor.

The keyboard appears to be hard plastic keys that fingers or fingernails would easily slide around on and mess up your typing. Wouldn't it make more since for them to be textured somehow?

In case you're new to forums, I'll put this nicely: don't quote images. We've already seen them once, we don't need to waste time re-processing the images and re-scrolling through them, it's very annoying.

I was view this forum on mobile when I'm using my Hero, its just faster and IMO I don't need the flash of the full-site when doing my mobile browsing. Every other site comes up full tho :)

Crow11ad is not new to the forum and I doubt he needs a lecture on "forum etiquette". There is no rule against quoting pictures, sure it may annoy some users, but get over it. Besides after your computer/device has downloaded them once, they are cached, it doesn't download them twice.

The rule is just common sense about inline quoting pics. Its just annoying.
