I recently got an LG Ally and it is my 1st smart phone. Browsing the Marketplace I see anti virus and spyware apps. I have asked around but am getting conflicting answers to wether I need such apps or not. I also tried researching online but am more confused than ever. One thing I read claimed that Android programming contains "sandbox" which makes viruses impossib...Does anyone have knowledge in this area? I do a lot of online banking & buying which I can now do on my phone but I would be very relieved to find out if I'm safe on my phone. Any assistance is much appreciated!

The antivirus on there really doesn't do anything. It is possible to get a virus because there are 5, pretty sure, out there as of now.but they aren't traveling around really. So it is possible but its also possible to win the lottery and right now I think you got a better chance at that.

    Welcome to the Android Forums!

No need yet for AV apps on an Android device. That need may materialize but not just yet...
