New to Android, animations question

I am a fairly new user to Android. I use the stock browser on my Thrive, and have the Dolphin browser installed as well. One a number of message boards that I read, people use animated avatars and animated smilies. On my computers, I can use the ESC key to stop the animations. Is there a way to accomplish this on my Thrive?

I've been searching for a solution, but just can't find an answer.
