Just ordered a MyTouch 3g from t-mo. It should be here Friday. I'm excited!

Device in the store didn't seem too slow, but I've read nothing but good things about CyanogenMod.

I've flashed firmwares on my old moto V551 and on my Blackberry Perl 8100, but neither loked as involved as a firmware upgrade on Android.
I'm familiar with Linux though so with the right guide, I'd be comfortable upgrading.

I found a guide about Cupcake from April, but I'm wondering if things have changed much since then, and if there are any changes I need to know about when flashing Donut to a MT3G.

A guide written for dummies would be great. Or, if it has matured that far, a one click solution like jail breaking the iphones would be even better.

Found mention of a CM Flash utility that apparently makes things simple, but I read that it can cause odd behavior and that flashing via recovery rom is better.

I've read differing reports on how some of the linux settings should be configured, such as swappiness and so on. Some input on tweaks once I have the new rom running would be great too.

    Any input would be great!
Thank you for your patience and assistance.

All forms of rooting contain risks...

    Even one click ...

Suggest you TAG Search of this site for "root" and possibly
"one click" these should get you to threads where there will be more help ...

Also post in the MyTouch form your questions for the most relavent answers ...

Welcome to the AF forums and enjoy your visits !!

There was a promo code that gave me $100 dollars off, but when I went into the store, they said it was online/call-in only.

I tried upgrading online and didn't see an option to enter the promo code, so I called in to place the order.

I tried to goto the store to get my phone. Would have LOVED to have my new MyTouch already. But the guy knew about the promo code and seemed to know what he was talking about when he said it was online/call-in only, so I went back to work and placed the order over the phone.
