Hello, had the phone for about a week and LOVE it. Here's some things I haven't been able to figure out...

1.) I have a Motorola T325 Bluetooth speaker. Works great for phone calls, but I can't get my GPS Navigator to go through it. Speaker on Evo 3D is insufficient for GPS in a car, especially with the windows down. What would be even better is if I could somehow get Navigator going to bluetooth and music coming out of headphone jack.

2.) Does the built in messaging app do text to speech? If so, how? If not is there a 3rd party app that does? Voicing my texts is great, but I want them read back to me while I'm driving too.

3.) I can't find some games in the Android Market that I know should be out there. Plants vs Zombies, Dungeon Hunter 2, etc... I had assumed it was because they are not compatible with 3vo yet, but I've read posts from other 3vo owners that have them, but where are they getting them?

    Welcome to the forums!

I'll take number 3 - I highly recommend Chomp, free in the Market, under the Sprint tab. I think it is the best way to search the Market that I have seen.

Also pop over to Amazon and get their App Store. I know that Plants vs Zombies is easy to find there.

I can help you with a few things, BT depends on the model, some work like that and others don't, my old Motorola H715, H720, and H730 did not work with the GPS navigation, but the new H17 they just sent me works with it and also all my text reading, music etc.., you can also check with your BT model and see if there is a SW upgrade.

For text to speech, your can try,

    1) Does the Google Navigator work? The Sprint one is nice, but the Google one is better, IMO. Give that a try.

    2) There is a TTS option for everything. It's an accessibility feature called "TalkBack" in the market.

    3) The Amazon App Store has a few exclusives. Also, Gameloft only allows you to download certain games from their website. Plants vs Zombies is on Amazon. Dungeon Hunter is a Gameloft game (and I think you have to tell the website that your phone is a Evo 4G to find some of these older games).

Hey guys, im new to HTC sense and android.

Been lurking for the past few days reading up and learning. Finally decided to post and ask all the questions ive formulated.

First off, i have a Rogers HTC EVO 3D. Im pissed that the bootloader is locked but hey thats a different story. I can also confirm the screen capture mentioned in another thread does work. I just push the home and lock buttons at the same time.

    Now onto my questions.

    1. I know on the sprint version all the bloatware can simply be uninstalled, but is there no way of doing that on my device without rooting.

    2. Rooting my device, where do we stand on that i was reading another thread and i cant find it now but they said the process between my version and the Sprint version are different is this true?

    3. Is there no file manager built into the phone? How can i look at whats on my devices SD card and onboard memory cause my SD card shows 7.89gb total with only 2.5 GB left to actually use. Yet i have loaded darn near nothing on the phone yet. Is this normal?

    4. How do i get rid of some of the home screens on sense.

    5. If i do root my device, what changes. Where does that get me.I read the sticky about what it is and such. but that didnt actually provide me with an understanding of what i can achieve.

I tend to modify my phones quite a bit and such. I used to have a BB and i would make my own themes and such for it, cause i like to customize my phone a lot. So it seems like rooting could be valuable but im kinda scared.

Welcome to A/F! I don't root but there are plenty of knowledgeable people here that will help you. :D As far as storage you can check this out.

You can get rid of these crappy movie and crappy game to free up your SD card.

    1. Connect your phone to PC via given USB cable
    2. Be sure to mount as 'SD card' not 'USB charging' via your phone screen
    3. Browse your phone's SD card via your PC

    4. Crap Hornet 3D is located in ".data/HtcWatch/preload_movies/2141_0_SonyPictures_GreenHornet_3D.eny" at a whopping 1.76 GB. Delete the whole damn folder.

    5. Crapman 3D game is located in "gameloft" folder at the root. Delete the whole thing. It's about 800 mb.

Viola! You just saved 2.5GB~ of your 8GB card, that's over 31% of your precious storage!

Okay, now that i connected my phone and i can look at all the stuff on my SD card. Wtf is some of this stuff. Is it stuff the phone needs to work properly or can i somehow format the card to clear it?

I want to load my music back onto my phone, like i had on my BB but i dont want to until i have the space issue sorted on my phone. This is ridiculous that i have an 8gb card and 6 gb are used...

    Okay new questions formulating.

Why do i have doubles of some random things like facebook and such. There is a "facebook" then there is "facebook for HTC sense". Can i get rid of one of these if so how and do i need to root.

I have a feeling a lot of my complaints are stemming from the HTC sense portion of the phone. What would i lose if i take it off and reinstall vanilla android.

S-off and root will be available for your phone very soon. Check the All Things Root subforum here for updates and announcements. The process for your phone is indeed different than the Sprint version.

    Changing roms requires root.

You can install Astro File Manager or EStrongs File Explorer to manage your SD card without a PC.

Not all of Sprint bloatware can be removed without root.

Coming from another phone operating system the first thing you need to know is to NOT get into task killing. Check the forum guide sticky for the thread on memory management.

Other threads here discuss the Facebook issues, please try search on that term and let us know if you have trouble finding helpful threads. Usually, per our rules, I would provide those links for you, but I am on the run and posting from my phone in a bit of a rush, so I hope you're not offended by the suggestion. Perhaps one of our buds here can back me up with some links here. ;)

    Hey meme405

You and I are in the same exact boat. I picked up an HTC Evo 3D from Rogers last week, and am coming from a strictly BlackBerry world. First thing I did was format the uSD that came with the device, and added my media (music, photos, ringtones, videos) to it.

Now, I'm waiting to be able to root the phone such that I can remove the HTC Sense and apps from it. Don't get me wrong.. the UI is awesome.. but I crave simplicity. I've used Stock Android on a Nexus S, and want that.

Anyone know if, after rooting, I could get Stock Android on the phone?
