New to Rooting

Hi ppl,

I've been using android for a few months now with my LG GT540 which I updated 1.6-2.1. I have never messed with it but have now got myself a Nexus S which I love but don't know if it can be improved on too much by rooting. So today I decided to root the old GT540 which was successful but now what? I'm not really sure what to do now!

Anyone help someone willing to learn?
