Did everyone know if you long press on a blank area of the home screen you get a "Add to Home" menu?

    Sure!

It offers Applications, Shortcuts, Widgets, and Wallpaper quick access.

Applications - allows an app icon on the homepage, most people know this (also could be accomplished a few other ways)

Shortcut - Various items, including "Folder" opetions

    Wallpaper - self-explanatory

Widgets - Clock and Search - these I knew, but now I see Picture Frame (could this be from the app SnapPhoto?) Either way it allows a photo to show up on your home screens, on top of your wallpaper. Very cool.

No. Your phone has always done this.

Well I like it, but I don't love it. The photo cropping tool does not display the slightly portrait style image that will show up as the widget. That is pretty frustrating.

But interesting that this tool has always been there. Fun to learn new tricks on my own!

If you use the Photo Frame Deluxe app from the market it shrinks down the whole image to fit in the widget on the home screen. That way you don't lose anything to cropping.
