    Hey,

So I have a few questions about the output. I see that the phone has the capability to record in 720p and the HD Out allows you to play this on an HDTV, but according to this article... Droid X HDMI-Out Is Crippled To Play Only Videos Or Display Photos Taken On The Device | Android News, Reviews, Applications, Games, Phones, Devices, Tips, Hacks, Videos, Podcasts - Android Police ... it can only be used for photos and videos YOU take on the phone. So if I have downloaded HD movies, even using the HDMI Out, it will come in standard definition? Why would they do this? Is the plan for this to be permanent? Will you need two cords then (one from HDMI Out, one for micro-usb?)

Another question, this one for SlingBox users. It would be much more convenient just carrying phone (+ charger) + HDMI Out than a whole laptop, but I wonder if it would be choppy. What's the quality with slingbox on the mobile devices? As good as can be expected, or just flat-out good? If this HDMI Out problem from the top paragraph gets worked out, would it work to go slingbox -> phone -> HDMI Out -> HDTV, and would this work well?

Lastly, I read some complaints on the Droid Incredible forum about emulators not responding well (too choppy) not working well with the microUSB to TV that was recently released. Any experience with the quality of this on the Droid X?

    Thanks!

Slingplayer works flawlessly on my X. It actually looks better than on my laptop.

try running the gallery in the background, and then run your apps. idk if it will work, but its worth a try.

honestly, i dont know if you will be able to do all that. i believe you will have a better shot at this when froyo comes to the X. the performance increase shall provide a few more fps making the whole experience more fluid...hopefully

I agree to an extent... The only issues I had were when I had to move in my car then it got a little choppy, but when I stopped again I closed slingplayer out and then reopened it. After I did this it worked flawlessly again and it absolutely looks better than on the laptop... tenfold! :D

The article is mistaken. The X will output movies you've downloaded to it in 720p to an HDTV over HDMI (provided it can actually play them that is). What it won't do is stream youtube or movies downloaded via the Blockbuster app over HDMI. Slightly inconvienant I guess but certainly not as doom and gloom as that article made it out to be..

Wait seriously, it won't even work with the blockbuster app? That is a HUGE disappointment. Hulu, Netflix Etc... with the flash update this was a huge draw to getting this phone.

    WTF ovr

Um, it's been said since before the phone was released that Blockbuster wouldn't work over HDMI, Hulu has a long standing policy to keep mobile devices from accessing their content. Finally, Netflix doesn't use Flash, they use Silverlight. Don't take this the wrong way but with a little research your disappointment and frustration could have been lessened.

On a side note Netflix is working on an Android app so hopefully we will all have something to satisfy us soon.

I hear you guys saying that the slingplayer looks fantastic on the Droid X. Does it look really good with no lipsyncing issues over 3G? or does it juts work over Wifi? Mainly because I would be watching in places where I wouldn't have wifi access. Also, how is it if I want to watch a show on my slingbox that I recorded on my cable DVR in HD. Will it play the HD show just as flawlessly as a standard definition show through the slingplayer app in 3G? Just thought that the bandwith might become an issue when trying to watch a show recorded in HD through the slingplayer app on the Droid X.

I would appreciate any input you may all have since I'm trying to decide whether or not to purchase a slingbox Pro.

    Thanks

I'm about this {} close to ordering the 2 x new Dish VIP922's w/imbedded slingbox. I understand how it all works; however, I want to understand how it LOOKS on the Droid X (and her iPad...but that's another forum). I'm in agreement with CC1995 in that there will more than likely be some kind of lipsynch issues over (admit it...) slow 3G.
