Root Newbie Questions...

I'm totally new to android. I've been mainly a Blackberry user, and am familiar with hybrid OS and non specific carrier updates... I do have a few questions though. I know that Blackberry is pretty much impossible to brick.

Is it the same with Android?

I have a US Cellular HTC Desire. It's running (not sure which people go by..)
*Firmware- 2.1-update1
*Baseband 2.05.10.06.29
*Software 1.23.573.2

I've read the root guides and rooting for newbies but curious as to this as I don't really want a bricked phone... I'm going ahead and backing up all my things using my backup free on my SD card and then im gonna transfer it to my computer and then move it back to the card but.... Curious as to how easy it is to brick android phones if at all possible.

Any tips, tricks,or hints? I've got 2 seperate MicroSD cards so i'm set....

Not very easy. From my experience, and what I've seen on these forums, they are pretty much brick free.

Good luck
