newbie with an evo

Well, as you can guess i am new here. I purchased an HTC evo on Saturday and am in love with it. Still learning how to use the darn thing though as this is my first smartphone.

Good evening. I feel like the mother of all virgins, the least technically savvy guy I know. I joke that I never got a Palm pilot because I couldn't get it to merge with my abacus. That would be funny if anyone knew what an abacus was..... Anyway, kicking and screaming into the 21st century, I am finally embarking on a search for a "dare I say it" smartphone. I plan to use it to make calls, check email, play Scrabble with friends on Facebook, check sports scores, and take an occasional photo. I won't download movies, listen to music, sync it with anything, and I hate texting. Where do I go (short of another planet) to get some insight.

Still doing my due diligence. I like the Sprint EVO, however it may be too much phone for what I need it for. The salesperson at Best Buy today recommended the Sprint Hero. Any thoughts?
