Hi all, After months of reading hundreds of forum posts and not finding a solution I've finally decided to bite the bullet and ask for help. I am a total noon to rooting etc... Almost a year ago now a friend of mine followed directions here to root my incredible on 2.3.4 with unrevoked. Root was achieved but with s-on. I never did the downgrade. I would like to get s-off now and flash a new Rom. Since the beggining titanium hasn't worked saying insufficient memory to do a backup. When I reboot holding power and vol down I get hboot but if I select recovery it just goes to a black screen with gray bars on both sides. What do I do now? How do I know if I even have a succesful recovery image?. At this point I don't really care if I lose data but am sick of gingerbread and would like to go to Rom without all the bloat and the insufficient memory bootloop bugs. What should I do now?

sounds like you just have an amoled version of clockwork on an slcd incredible. you can try reflashing cw with rom manager(do it 10+ times in a row ) and see if that gets you a newer recovery

to s-off,if you have root access, you can go ahead and rewrite the misc image and downgrade(basically follow step 4 here http://androidforums.com/incredible...ow-unlock-downgrade-achieve-s-off-htcdev.html) then run unrevoked again on froyo.

if you do not have root access, then likely the easiest method will be to just follow that guide from start to finish, and use htcdev to get a compatible recovery and root access. :)

Ok I flashed it 10+ times and it didn't work so flashed 20 times still nothing then flashed about another 20 still no change. I'm really stumped
Is your bootloader unlocked? If not you will either have to start from scratch and follow directions here:

http://androidforums.com/incredible...ow-unlock-downgrade-achieve-s-off-htcdev.html

Or

you can attempt to start at step 3 here:
http://androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/427344-how-root-2-3-4-downgrade-get-s-off.html the files you need are downloaded in step 1
