Hi I'm a newbie to android so go gentle.

    Just got A DHD yesterday

    very impressed so far

I have managed to delete the messages thing that was on the extended home screen.:(
How can I add this again as I can only manage to add the widget.

Can any app be added so that it is already open, so to speak on the home pages

what are the best things to customise?

At the minute I've messed about with a few apps & added Handcent as I like the style of the messages etc

    thanks for any help

    cheers
    Jonathan

    Welcome to our community!!!

To answer some of your questions:

holding your finger on the home pages is your friend. This will allow you to add widgets and shortcuts (among other things). If you do the same thing on an icon itself you can drag them to a new position or delete from the page altogether.

I personally just customize my homescreens and nothing else. But there is SO much you can do, and the market is an awesome place to start!

    thanks for the quick reply.

I have tried that & it doesn't do what I want to do. On my phone I have 7 home screens, It has weather, friend stream & locations already open & running , how do you add them in this format rather than adding the widget.

I'm well baffled ,would like to add handcent in this way. Can it be done?

    Welcome to the Android Forums!

By long pressing on the home screen you can add both widgets and shortcuts to your home screen.
