Maybe 2.3 is the Froyo bug fix that Matt over at the Motorola Support Forums mentioned and not Gingerbread. In my book, that would still be a MAJOR upgrade... as long as it fixes things like the D1 wifi issue, DX music player problem and other issues we're all having.
