Nexus One Pro: World Phone With Keyboard, Bigger Battery? | Android Phone Fans

Wow, I know you can never keep up with technology, but this really sucks! Part of the reason I was so happy to own a Droid over a Nexus One was because of the physical keyboard, and it isn't even that great on the Droid (not horrible though). I have a feeling HTC will make a damn good keyboard if it's anything like the Touch Pro 2.

EDIT: Okay, doesn't suck for Droids, just mine.

I think I spend too much time on gadgetry sites (okay, fine...I *know* I spend too much time on gadgetry sites) but the time between "somebody mentions the possibility offhand" to "leaked in the product line next year" to "approved by the FCC" to "exists"...well, go check out the HTC Passion forum.

That being said...progress is awesome (and if worse comes to worse, ebay! ;) )

if it had a Blackberry 8830 keyboard (or even a Bold/Tour series), a real IM program, synced mail through yahoo, and a real battery, I'd be in cell phone heaven.

Seriously. Our phones can already do everything. And whatever new OS comes out, we are getting anyway. What more could you want? Besides, just imagine what options we will have when its time to upgrade.

I have learned the grass is always greener on the other side. You see a 30 sec short about some splashy UI on another phone and right away have to have it. I was lured towards the HD2 but have learned not to buy a cell phone with Microsoft on it.

I agree with the person above.. the grass is always greener on the other side..

I am perfectly happy with my Droid and it might as well be better than the nexus one that everyone is so hyped up about it..

I am happy with my Droid as well.

I am glad that Nexus One is out and I am sure soon, we will all be talking about another new Android phone that comes out, and that it will be hailed as the greatest thing to happen to Android. Then all the Nexus One owners (who cannot find satisfaction with their purchase) will be bitching.

Just think about this... new advancements and better products will push manufacturers to release better and better products.

NOW... if Motorola was smart (and I have think they are not stupid) they will improve things many many times over the next two years. Droid is on Verizon, everyone has a 2 year contract, when those 2 years are up from the original release of the Droid, I think Motorola will have another OMGIGOTTAHAVEIT phone ready for us all to upgrade to!

Then it will be our turn again to shine in the spotlight for a while, until the cycle starts all over again.

the thing i like best about the droid is it unique looking. HTC is going for that iphone clone look with the smooth back and edges. the droid didn't do iphone clone it went for a new look (like it or not). i presonally think the back grill and the angled edges look badass.

If you listen to the actual interview, Rubin was asked: "What would an enterprise (version of the Nexus One) be like?" To which Rubin replied, "It may have a keyboard on the front; it may be a world phone. It would have different battery characteristics." In other words, Rubin was just tossing out ideas of what would satisfy an enterprise phone. What he also confirmed was that it would be a different phone completely. It wouldn't look like an N1. Perhaps, Motorola is being sequestered for this work as Sanjay said the next DROID phone will have a better keyboard. Either way, I don't think it sucks for anyone. It sucks for people caught up in trying to keep up with technology, but that's a losing battle. Nothing is future proof in a market that is flourishing like smartphones. Actually, in all of this, I'm pretty pissed off at Google's business model. Depending on how quickly they release major OS updates, he said in the interview there will be a "flagship" phone. Those intervals can be 3 months, 6 months, or any arbitrary amount of time. In that way, even a phone like the N1 can be obsoleted in a matter of time. It's almost not worth buying an Android phone unless you plan on using it for the long haul and not worrying about how your phone might be behind the curve on technology.

Why would they do this? This is ******ed. They have a great phone, why would they want to ruin it and make one with a keyboard? Stupid. They need to focus on making a better phone that will keep up with whatever apple has in store for this June, instead of adding worthless BAD features like a keyboard that only get in the way and make the phone ugly.
