The iPhones barcode reader would probably have worked better if you could keep your freaking hand still lol

Shop savvy app is not good for iPhone. I tried it a bunch of times without the camera and I was never able to get it to work. There is another app for iPhone called "redlaser" that is better. But my focus was to do a one to one comparison of shop savvy app.

Let me get this straight. Nexus one is better because it has a barcode scanner?
Do you all have life long ambitions to work in a supermarket or something :p

I have yet to be convinced by either device that one is 'better' than the other.
I still have my 3GS (I don't intend to sell it) and it still has its advantages over my Nexus One at this point.

I still think its down to personal opinion and need as to which the end user will find to be better.

If you watched the video, you would see that I was comparing one application. And that one app is better on the nexus one. Its the same developer.

And review stuff that has a bigger following or that is of greater interest to the community...

I may be wrong, I don't know how many people are out there shopping savvy but I would think media apps like Pandora would be more widespread.

Thanks man, that is good advise. i had an iPhone for 2 years before i got my Nexus One and i thought the bar code scanner was really cool. But I can see how that could be kinda small on peoples priority.

I have a couple of things in mind that i can review that would be of more interest to people.

you're comparing apps, fine. the title of the thread is nexus one v iphone. at that, it fails simply because the iphone you use is outdated. people arent interested in buying a 3g v a nexus, they're interested in either a 3gs or a n1. if you want to do a relevant comparison, do that comparison. if you want to waste peoples time, do more of this shit.

there is a few things that are better on the iPhone 3g then the nexus one. I just did one that the n1 was better at. so i wouldn't say outdated. The android operating system and apps are lacking in many categories. I think i will do one review that shows how the iPhone is better just to humble the Nexus one users.

But you're wanting to compare the an iPhone that's two generations old to a new Nexus One. It would make a lot more sense to compare the Nexus One to the iPhone 3GS. If you don't have access to a 3GS, maybe you should hold off on the "reviews" for a while until you do.

So, umm... why was that necessary? The iPhone 3G did not work because is does not have an autofocus camera. Of course it didn't work. Barcode scanning apps are dependent on having that feature. This should have been mentioned in the video. The 3GS does have an autofocus camera and it works just fine. I love my N1, but lets be serious.

I appreciate anyone trying to get more tech knowledge out there, and educate people about the gadgets we all love. But I find it misleading to just show a piece of hardware failing at something that it isn't even supposed to be able to do, and making it out to be a big deal.

    Wow. Tough crowd.

And these comments are coming from primarily Nexus One users (supposedly) :p

I appreciate and applaud your efforts. While it may not be the "iPhone 3GS"....you didn't CLAIM that it was the iPhone 3GS. You just said "iPhone".

And while it may be one comparison of a single app...it was, none the less, a comparison.

Seems like some folks are getting all bent out of shape over semantics.

I, personally, enjoyed the review of that particular app. But then again, I'm an adult...so an app like that which deals with shopping for the best prices on consumer products would appeal to me more so than it would to many kids.

Hopefully the flamers haven't caused you to say the heck with it...and you'll put together another review here shortly. Like the one guy said...maybe compare Pandora, or an app that might have more appeal to a younger audience. Chances are at least you won't have to put up with some of the asinine flaming comments if you do so......

Hey now... let's not generalize. Some comments may be a bit on the flame-ish side, but I certainly don't think all of them are. I think you ought to read my previous post. I am not arguing semantics as you seem to think everyone is. The iPhone 3G (which is what the video claims he is using) does not work well at all with shopsavvy as it does not have an autofocus camera. As a former 3G owner, I know this to be the case. A review should compare something both phones are capable of. That's all I'm saying.

it's surprising to me. It seems that no one has ever come up short. I am the only one. If you can see my comments on this forum, you would be able to tell that I am looking for advise. so that I can do a better review next time.

I carry both phones on me at all times because the Nexus One falls short at some of the apps and features I use.

I am just looking to learn from my mistakes and become better.

I thought the barcode idea was good as Android uses it a lot when it comes to downloading apps from the market.
