Nexus won't boot, no recovery mode, screen flashes onceSupport

    Today, I wanted to install the facebook app on my stock Nexus 7 which I bought just 4 days ago. After charging the tablet, I removed it from the power source, started Chrome and went to facebook, when suddenly the screen went static before dying. Now, when I hold the power button, after a couple of seconds there's one white flash on the screen, and that's it. No Google logo, nothing.
    Naturally, I tried booting in recovery mode via holding down the volume keys along with the power button for about 90 seconds several times in any combination, but to no avail.
    There's no recognition from Android File Transfer either.
    When I press the device's back against my ear, I think I can hear a high-pitched sound that modulates when I press and hold the buttons.
    Does anyone have a clue what I can do here? If not, there's always warranty, but still, I'd like to know what happened here.

    I would immediately return it. Sounds defective
