So i really like the clock function and the ability to use it as an alarm clock next to my bed. I set it in the mode with the quarter moon and star.

What im worried about is the effect on my LCD screen. It seems to be running all night but in a dimmer mode. Is it ok to use the feature every night? Will i end up ruining my LCD a lot faster?

LCD's don't tend to burn out or wear out. It's the backlight that seems to go in the long run, but that's not very often either. Really, it should be fine to run it all night...assuming you've got it plugged in.

I use it all nite on the job, and the time seems to move around the screen like with Windows screen saver I have to use the dim version and that seems bright at nite.

LCD's can, and eventually will, go out. That said, the LCD on a modern cell-phone has an expected life that far exceeds any number of hours that you will rack up in your time with the phone, even with leaving it on overnight. There are plenty of other things that are more likely to go wrong than your screen going out.

Sorry for the lame question, but what do you push to lock the screen? You can have that clock setting and lock it? I thought when you lock the phone it just like when you push the power butten and its in the first screen.

Tap the power button on the top of the phone. Puts it right to sleep/lock.

We have some lcd tv's at work that run 24 hours a day. We've had some for over 3 years and haven't had a problem. So I doubt leaving the phone on at night will do any harm. Most of us will get a new phone before the 2 years is up anyway haha

I use mine all night beside the bed. I also have it on my desk at work, on the kickstand, using the day clock.

I can't imagine having something that bright next to me while I'm trying to sleep. Now if we can hack it to greatly lower the minimum backlight brightness, then I might consider it. But it would need to go down quite a bit.

Two settings...one is very dim. Perfect for a night clock.

The night mode works in horizontal, but I'd like to use the kickstand on my office desk during the day. But it stays vertical.

I'm talking about in the night mode, which is still too bright. Just how bright are your rooms when you sleep that you don't notice this?

dumb question but are you going into your settings every night to turn the screen timeout off so you can have the clock stay on all night?

I can't answer for what they are doing but if I were to do it, I would have the phone on charger all night and check the option in the settings that keeps the screen on while charging.

When you have that feature (screen on during charging) does that mean the screen would continue to stay on when i get a text message even if i had the screen sleeping originally during charging?

I put mine in Airplane mode, plug it in and put it down on its face so the charging light flash doesn't bother me.

Alarm sounds in Airplane mode but calls/emails and such don't.....lets me sleep.

I think it's great as a nightstand clock...the kickstand comes in handy for that too. I also use a toggle to bottom out the brightness of the screen so the night mode isn't too bright at all.
