Non-root: Disable/remove annoying pop up message: Disconnected Unplug charger outlet conserve energySupport

    NOTE: Non-root. I know this problem has been solved for people with rooted phones.

    In case you don't know what I'm talking about, here is the problem:

    I have ruled out the cause being anything such as cords or apps or malware. When my phone is plugged in but the battery is full, it will pop up with the message:

    The problem is that the message constantly pops up. It is very annoying and sometimes even causes my phone to temporarily freeze up. I have already disabled the sound notification, but the text bubble message continues to pop up independently of the sound.

    Without getting into a discussion of rooting my phone, for the time being does anyone know of a way to make that message permanently go away WITHOUT rooting the phone? If no, I understand. But if yes, please tell me how? Thank you

    I've used the Bionic since the day it was released. I have never seen that message. I am un-root-ed.

    Googling a little it seems that it may be caused on some devices by not unlocking the phone (sliding the slider) soon enough after removing it from the charger.

    I have used No Lock for about six months because I find the slider annoying. I have the Bionic locked about half an hour a month.

    No guarantee ... you might try No Lock and leave it unlocked. Perhaps the message will magically stop.

    I tried No Lock and unfortunately it did not solve the problem. :( Thanks anyway for your recommendation. :)

    You are lucky that you don't have this problem. If you search the forums and internet, you will see that many others have the same problem. Unfortunately, all the solutions I found require rooting the phone. I'm trying to see if there is a solution that does not require rooting.

    Is it plugged in to a charger or a computer USB port? If it's a charger, is it the stock charger or something else? If it is a USB port or a non-stock charger, I am wondering if the charger is sensing a full charge, turning off power, then sensing a drop and starting the charge again - which makes the battery full and pop up that message again, repeating the cycle.

    Are u using the supplied charger? I've had to quit using non-moto chargers due to all sorts of weirdness that occurs when charging Bionics with some of my non-moto chargers. My phone will act as if a poltergeist (when using a non-moto charger and the bedside dock) has gotten ahold of it. I finally realized the issue was caused by using some of my non-Moto chargers. crazy, but definitely true!

    I'm charging it via the wall outlet, not via my computer.

    The charging unit I'm using is Motorola, but the cable I'm not sure about. (in other words, the part that plugs into the wall outlet is Motorola, but that charging unit part has a regular-sized USB port. Then there is a cable that goes from the unit to my phone. The cable has a reglar-sized USB on one end and a micro USB on the other. So one end of the cable plugs into the Motorola charging unit and the other end plugs into my phone. Sorry if that was confusing. I can include a picture if that would help.

    Anyway, I've tried different cables but same result.

    I suggest that you try a different charger, then, just to rule that out. I have used a Kindle charger, an iPod charger, and a few other basic chargers with USB connectors that have worked fine.

    I have 4 phones (non-rooted) and at least one of my phones (I think it is my Samsung Note or maybe my Bionic) gets this message whenever it is fully charged. I don't pay any attention to it because it doesn't bother me, but it has happened on several different chargers. If it is a manufacturer notation that was programmed into the phone, short of rooting, I am not sure you can remove it.

    Well, I SEMI-resolved this issue and I thought I'd post in case anybody comes across this topic in the future.

    Basically, I had to try a variety of cables/chargers and finally found one that charges my Bionic without constantly giving me the above mentioned annoying pop-up message. I can't seem to find any rhyme-or-reason behind it, but I'm just going to stick with the cable/charger that works. I don't know WHY this is the case, but it seems to have resolved the issue for me. I hope this helps someone in the future.

    What were the cable and charger that you ended up with?

    There wasn't anything "magical" about the Motorola logo on the chargers and cables other than their strict attention to quality control. Some others worked. The same model number of some others ... sometimes they worked ... sometimes they didn't.

    So ... what's working for you?

    It's a Motorola charger with an un-labled black 2-foot cable. Sorry I can't be more specific, I have a pile of MicroUSB cables and I just tried everything until I found one that worked. :confused:

    Here's a recommendation. Keep the charger and cable that came with your Bionic in a known place. If you choose to use something else OK. If you run into a problem in the future come back to the OEM charger and cable and see if the perplexing problem just magically disappears.

    The OEM charger and cable have the Motorola logo melted into them.

    If anyone knows how to turn these items OFF, please dont be shy.

    I am sure the folks at Google had well intentions when they built this popup into JB but it is annoying as heck and I wish it would be optional in future iterations. I 5?
    Do I need to be told to "unplug my charger" every time I disconnect my phone?

    Here's where it gets really annoying: when you're texting as your dying phone is hooked to a charger with an inconsistent power supply. You move and it goes from "charging" to "not charging" pushing the pop up right in the middle of your text. So there's this constant battle.

    Same thing with the "power alerts".
    YES I SEE the red battery icon. I KNOW my phone needs to be charged...but your "less than 5% battery power" is really getting in the way of this text that I need to get out. Back off !!!! :)

    If anyone knows how to turn these items OFF, please dont be shy.

    What phone are you using? Since you mentioned Jelly Bean I assume it is not a Bionic (where you posted your question).

    I would really like to have the same answer, my phone is a VZW Droid X, not rooted. I do not ever need to see that "green" dialog again.

    I reached here by searching for info about the dialog, thus the "incorrect" phone model forum, but the question is the same. That said, if you actually HAVE the answer for the Bionic, why not just add it to the thread??????

    The OP updated the thread to say that he solved the problem by finding a cable/charger combination that prevented the dialog box.

    What is happening is that the charger stops providing current when full charge is reached; as the battery discharges, it notices that the battery is accepting current again and starts charging again, until full charge is reached and that dialog box is shown.

    Are you using the stock charger and cable for your phone?

    Yes, and it works fine. That's not when the problem happens. I would like to disable the dialog. I don't need any other solutions, thank you.
