    dravenm4,

    Welcome to the AndroidForums!

    Start here: http://androidforums.com/eris-all-t...-links-updated-09-28pm-mst-aug-30-2010-a.html

The first three rooting methods under the "General Topics" section are you best and easiest bets. Read through the threads to get an idea about what's going on and what other questions and answers various folks have.

Check 'em it...its a fun ride!

    Cheers!

As Scary Alien said, check out the thread at the top for different rooting methods and other info. I used the Universal Root for Dummies method myself, but that was before the 1 click method came about and I hear that makes it even easier to root.

I literally just rooted my phone using the 1 click method. It's scary easy.

Does it make a difference if my Eris is running the "non-OTA" 2.1 that came out just before the official OTA version?? Or can I just root it using one of the afore mentioned methods?

Either of the "Universal" methods or the "Detailed" method will work on any version of Android.

edit: order of "easyness" of these methods:

    1. easy (requires Android SDK and Windows Prompt): http://androidforums.com/eris-all-things-root/125436-detailed-leak-root-tutorial.html

    2. easier (all from your phone; lots of pictures and instructions): http://androidforums.com/eris-all-things-root/127861-universal-eris-root-dummies.html

    3. easiest (requires a little more reading and understanding, though): http://androidforums.com/eris-all-t...is-app-apk-no-pcs-no-scripts-needed-easy.html

I had v2 Leak. I updated with the RUU update to make it official. Then I did the 1 Click Root. Easypeasy.
