Root Not getting OTA updates after flash recovery!

Hi all,

I flashed my phone awhile back with Velocity and was happy with it. However, now that 2.2 is out, I want it.

So I was able to flash back to the stock firmware version 2.1-update1... but I'm not getting updates. When I go to to Settings/About Phone/System Updates, it says "Your system is currently up to date."

I also followed http://androidforums.com/death2all110/166588-how-flash-stock-lg-rom.html , the part about stock recovery (the part with the blue screen), and still am not able to get updates.

I also tried *#*#CHECKIN#*#*. It checks in... but still no updates.

Can someone help me out pleeeease?

After doing checkin and it verifies by saying success,did you then go to your phone settings and check for updates?

Yes, after CHECKIN, when I go to About Phone/System Updates, it still says "Your system is currently up to date". The firmware version is listed as 2.1-update1.

Maybe it just hasn't been pushed to your phone yet, I wonder if others are still waiting for the Froyo update...

Well me and 3 other members of my familt all got ally's a month and 2 weeks ago, i flashed velocity and they all got froyo the day before yesterday. Shoulda went to everyone i would think

I got the update about a week ago and tried to install it. My phone restarted and I'm still on 2.1. Not quite sure what's going on here but I think on Saturday I'm going to attempt the guide posted above.

Doin these methods posted to get froyo, does it work like a custom rom? I mean will i still get OTA updates once i do it?

I followed the steps from the guide from post 3 all the way up to step 27... instead of following the rest of the guide (I'm not interested in rooting), I just kept taking the OTA updates and i now have 2.2.1 on my phone! Just a heads up: following this guide takes FOREVER! But it works!

Ill consider it, im still really happy with 2.1 because i had to press only one button to root, and the 4 different roms i use keep me occupied, BUT if roms come out for 2.2 ill be all over it due to the fact it will be better with more potential
