Here's the task.. when I'm sleeping I want my phone to shut up. But.. I still want ONLY the alarm. Is that possible?

My old phone had an 'alarm only' setting. Any such luck?

The best way to find out is set the alarm and try it yourself.

The alarm sounds should still come through if you put the phone in silent mode. Easiest way for now is to just keep hitting down on the volume rocker until it goes to silent.

This. Even in Silent Mode, the alarm sounds will work. When you're setting up an alarm, you can set if it vibrates or not, the sounds (if any) it makes, and its volume. Well, other settings too, but not quite relevant.

Or just hold in the power button and then select silent mode

ha, forgot all about that option. And it should still be there when/if Froyo breaks the volume rocker like it did for the droid.
