Help notification ringtone wont change

i set my notification ringtone and when i get a text it is back to what it was before i changed it. i thought i didnt change it so i went back in and it was still at what i set it at. i have set it to a few other ringtones to see if they would work, but it never changes. does anyone have any answers?
