I rang O2 yesterday to list my complaints:

Can't adjust answerphone delay using standard network code **61*etc..
Outgoing calls fail with zero duration sometimes
Incoming calls sometimes ring, sometimes goto answerphone sometimes neither!
Screenlock has a mind of it's own (the most annoying problem)
gps and wifi turn themselves on and off at will
certain contacts can't be edited (error message that a process has failed)
No bluetooth file share (but great handsfree/ parrot car kit use)
    Batterylife erratic at best.

Great phone though and I don't want to change.

Please samsung and O2 get the PC software working and get a firmware update released ASAP.

    Matt

whats the exact command you are typing in please?
SW version of handheld? age of sim card?
    same as above
this was fixed in h7 and h8 firmware, granted its not officially out for o2 uk but none the less its fixed so when a firmware update does come for uk then that should work
try turning off sleep mode settings in advanced options for wifi (knocks off wifi when the device screen goes off)
Try editing them in googlemail on a pc and re sync the device wirelessly see if it fixes the corrupt contacts
this is not a samsung issue its an android one. current fix is to use a 3rd party app but in order to receive you need to root the phone
welcome to smartphones with li-ion batteries lol, battery life was some what increased in the later firmware but i found the practices described in the poor batter life thread has also increased by battery life considerably. makesure to do a couple of full drains then charges then after that charge before the battery completely depletes

    hope that helps mate

Thank goodness someone confirmed calls not coming in. I've been expecting a call but haven't recieved it and I've 4 reports on my phone supposedly turned off. I've switched to my i8910HD for now until I know htese problems are resolved.

Also, the problem reported of 'Outgoing calls fail with zero duration sometime' is a problem I;ve had since updating to H8. Also sometimes calls just cut off after a few seconds!

Seriously this H8 is crap the only thing it's probably fixed is the battery life issue and added the switcvhers widget.

Samsung need to do something. I regretting jumping ship to Android...

If these problems with calls and randon behavior has not been resolved by flashing to h8 I would consider that there could well be a hardware fault. Personally I've had nothing but stability since I've updated and only had a hang on h6 when some one pranked my phone

Do you reckon a sortware I installed could cause these problems?

    **61*901*11*25
Sim card is 10 weeks old
I want to change the contacts ringtone so I can't do it on the internet
I tried to use bluex but A) I don't want to root the phone &
    B) Bluex doesn't work on our version of Android I think
The LiIon battery isn't a new invention even my Diamond had better life (on average)

Don't get me wrong, I'm sticking with it, I think Android is here to stay at least until WM7.

ok just tried the shortcode and tested it
i believe you are missing a # at the end as it worked for me. i checked my time had changed by doing *#61# so makesure you are ending the full command with #

nah, i mean try edit it (change a slight thing) and resync the phone with googlemail and see if it repairs the contact so you can then edit it on the phone succesfully

Thanks for that wifi tip Rastaman. I've noticed this morning the phone wasn't connected to our office wifi so hopefully now I've changed it to not disconnect when sleeping it will continue to use wifi rather than 3g.

Just quickly, battery life is better/worse using wifi rather than 3g?

    Thanks.

battery life should be better using wifi than 3G I think, since you don't need to communicate with a distant tower at, sometimes, peak power, neither you need to manage UMTS handovers. If you have some data plan, you should try some basic experiment, like web browsing on 3G for an hour, and browsing on WiFi for an hour.

I'm sitting right next to a wifi point and have computers in front of me.. so, if my phone is essentially going to be idle all day (other than syncing wth google) do you reckon it's better to leave it on wifi? At home and office I have wifi so figure they should be used (if they require less power) but I don't want to keep going to settings and switching on wifi or using only 2g etc.

Cool, when I put the # on the end and clicked dial it gave a different message so I assume it worked, cheers.

Turned wifi sleep to 'never' so I hope that will help battery life too!

Editing the contact online then trying on the phone again didn't help. The error message I get is: "Sorry! The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"

I've installed all the switchers to turn everything off too (crap solution really with a 1500mah battery but hey ho)!

Hopefully battery will calibrate itself better with a few more charging cycles too.

go to wifi settings and press menu, then use the advanced settings. Took a while for me to find it too.

Anyone else having issues connecting their phone to their PC?

I've installed the PC Suite and that doesn't work (searching the forums seems to indicate that this is because my phone firmware IH6 is too high for the software 1.3.0.IH4). I would have though that Explorer would mount the SD drive or internal phone memory so I could grab my photos off the phone though?

Does anyone have any idea when Samsung is going to be releasing an updated PC Suite? Is there any point hassling them for an update?
