Except that assuming linear posts over time may not be reasonable.

It's more likely that on the last day we'll have a flood of posts to beat the lock, 22 from me, 1381 from Steven, so ... you know.

We're going to end well over 0.060M, mark my words. ;) :)

BTW - fixed your post, some minor typos, nothing extreme or anything.

If it does get released on the 17th does anybody think they will sit back and wait a little bit just to see what happens.I'm thinking I may.

I don't understand why this would even be a topic of discussion at VZW. Why would they sell a phone as hyped-up as the GNex online only, unless they were trying to undermine sales? It doesn't make sense. Even if VZW prefers to push the Razr due to Droid branding, bloat, whatever, surely the VZW execs know that they maximize their profits by offering what the customer wants, and for customers, like us, who want GNex, it would make zero sense NOT to sell it though every retail outlet imaginable, especially in-store.

If by sit back you mean wait in my car till Verizon opens on the first day of sale,THEN YES!

Without advertising, a phone isn't going to be a hit. If verizon wants to push the RAZR, the RAZR will sell a ton. Fact is a ton of people see the ads on TV and when they ask the VZW CSR, they're gonna say, "Yeah the RAZR" is absolutely amazing.", the phone is gonna sell.

Unless Google or Samsung spearhead a big marketing campaign, the phone hype that we have on here just doesn't hit the mainstream.

The amount of people on this board is the far minority of users, albeit vocal minority.

If web only sale comes up and i can have the gnex in my hands faster through shippping than i would if i camped out at the store and was first in line, then that's the route i'm taking. i'd also sit by the mailbox the whole next day.

The only sitting back I'll be doing on release day is sitting back in my recliner playing with my spiffy new Gnex to see what new features I can find and setting up the screens how I like.

I'm sitting back and watch to see if it turn's out to be a piece of crap like the bionic. There is no way I'm jumping on a train not knowing where it's going. That go's for any phone I have never jumped on the train at the first stop.

They did. We have a VZW screen shot that says promote on 11/15 and sell on 11/17.

EDIT: Well, I'm holding fast to my Nov 17th buying plan. SURELY Verizon wants some money out of us... and we, more than most other demographics, are most willing to give it to them!

Sorry for late reply but I'm a day behind on this thread since I hate to miss anything by skipping ahead.

The Asus transformer prime has long been slated to be the first ics tablet. They are always the first to push out Google updates to the 1st tablet and don't add really any of the bloat crap other tablets seem to. I bought one to see if we would use it then brought it back to best buy when I saw Nov 9th as a release /announcement date for the prime. I may end up with 2 of them and a nexus in the next month. :)

This phone will probably be a big hit to generate new customers for verizon. it makes no sense for verizon to not go crazy advertising unless they dont care about new customers, and they just got exclusivity of the phone to keep their current customers happy.

Just new rumors that the powers that be can't decide if they want to release the phone in store or online. No release date associated with that rumor. Came from androidcentral.

If you're sitting on the fence on this phone due to size only, I recommend heading down to a place that sells the Infuse 4G (AT&T) and handling it. Aside from squared corners, the physical dimensions are similar. For me, even without a case, it was just too damn big. Phones like the Nexus S, Incredible 2, and Moto Atrix are pretty much perfect for me, but this is a matter of personal preference that will differ from person to person. If you plan to buy this phone before handling it, I highly recommend that you lay hands on the Infuse first.

I ended up getting the international SGS2, which is larger than my preferred phone, but was the perfect compromise of form, specs, and desired traits. And, for what it's worth, in terms of height, the RAZR, Rezound, and Nexus are all close enough to be considered similar. Also, the soft buttons take up enough space that the screen really is close to 4.3", making it so that these phones all look similar in size and screen size (except when playing movies, where the Nexus will shine).

I slightly disagree with this. A woman who works at one of my clients a few months back was asking me about recommendations for a new phone. She doesn't really follow the news or delve into smartphone ins and outs. Last week we were talking on the phone and out of the blue she asked me if I heard about the Nexus. I was surprised! She said a couple of people have already mentioned this phone to her and she was curious. Granted this is once instance, but I think the Nexus could have a better showing than Verzion anticipates. Word of mouth can be a very effective marketing tool.

Talked with my VZW business rep today. Not only did she not know the GN release, but she didn't even know the Resound was already announced for Monday by her own company. And this is someone much more knowledgeable and trained than anyone in store or on web. VZW keeps them ignorant on purpose. They want phones sold today, not next week. They care about a selling lines and branding. Sales reps care about commissions. Consumers are the only ones that care about phones. Bottom line, you'll know the GN release way before any sales reps.

I'm just saying that I don't expect a big pre launch rigmarole like the RAZR. It seems clear to me anyway that they like to do 2 things. Promote their network and brand. Galaxy Nexus is most likely not going to be VZW exlusive forever. The RAZR and the Droid brand has been and will be in the forseeable future synonymous with Verizon and Exlcusive to Verizon. I think they plan on keeping with their theme of heavy advertising the DROID line.
