Let's not pester Verizon for a release date. PLEASE.

We got an announcement. It's coming. And whether this is a planned delay to give RAZR exclusivity or if they truly don't HAVE a release date due to supply issues, we simply don't know enough about the situation to make blind demands.

I don't want us to become some "Occupy Verizon", storming them with demands without understanding what's really going on.

CK I am with you partially on the RAZR, in that Moto is a known in phone call quality and reception. Since this is my only mode of communication I need the phone to work well. My OG droid and DroidX did that greatly. But I think I am going to have to go with the GNex because I want the unbloated and always up to date ICS software. I just hope the call quality is close to that of a moto handset...

Well, it's good to learn from craziness like this I think. I have learned:

    (1) When so many sources point to something, it's probably true

    (2) No matter what is written about a potential release, there will be people who disagree.

    (3) I will never trust anything P3Droid spouts again ..

    (4) BMX is spot on again. Thanks !

I can't wait for some Ice Cream Sandwich now !!!!!

I agree but the fact of the matter is they announced a phone without a carrier. A carrier should have been involved at the time of release. Of course this is just my opinion...

My guess is December and the 16gb version. The price would probably be prohibitive for the 32gb version and VZW will NOT eat the margin themselves.

Early December for a Verizonified (to some degree) 16gb Nexus at $300 for two year agreement.

I agree that overall it won't be as bad as the last few days (the AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile users don't seem to be as vocally negative as the Verizon peeps). The use of "available later this year" I think is just a good way of being cautious until they have completely nailed down a release date.

I like that they decided to come out and at least say "yes, we are getting the Galaxy Nexus and it is going to be this year" for a couple reasons. One they are giving a general timeframe rather than it being completely open. They are also saying Galaxy Nexus which puts to ease some of the worry that they might rebrand it as a Droid product that might lose the nice Nexus features such as vanilla ICS, Google updates, no bloat. Of course, just like everything, there is still a chance for those to change, but it is still a positive sign so far.

Here, here to that. This should have been handled through the Google announcement anyhow and none of this would have happened. BUT, we all want the device to be RIGHT once it gets here, so lets not force it before it's ready.

how do you figure? the 16gb iphone is only 199 vzw bloat free, and the 32gb is 299, so why couldnt this be the same?

I think this is a very interesting idea.

It was an Asian event with world coverage.

On one hand, if a carrier or carriers piggybacked - and not all carrier deals in the world are done yet - that could have a been a bit unfair. I don't mean legally, just - unfair.

On the other hand, without a carrier or carriers to focus it - it seemed a bit adrift, like a piece missing.

    Interesting indeed.

Anyone think that Verizon might release both 16 and 32 gb models and just have $50 or $100 difference in price. Similar to an iPhone pricing.

Random thought on Verizon not announcing a date -

With a date, the community would be discussing who was right.

Without it, the weekend is spent with the community excited to discuss the phone's date.

I am maybe thinking that Verizon was crazy like a fox with this entire release. Could be wrong tho, I often am.

Based on current 4G phone premium pricing and they have 16gb. Charge and LG dropped in price, but are on the way out. My guess, so you are welcome to yours too :)

VZW will not price lower, just because no sd slot.

iPhone is not 4G and also does not have an sd slot ;)

iPhone 5 will probably also be premium priced (if 4G).

What the chances that Verizon will put the Mobile Hotspot Bloat from keeping us from wifi tethering like they put on the D3 Gingerbread?

Is it safe to come back in here now that Verizon is confirmed? Has everyone stepped back from the ledge, loosened the noose and stopped cutting themselves?

I've said this a few times. And T-Mo was always a part of other Nexus launches in the past. Verizon was the T-Mo this time and it should have been handled EXACTLY the same, but with VZW instead of T-Mo. The only real big complaint in the past about Nexus is that it WAS only T-Mo at launch. I actually think this device being VZW is WHY it was so much bigger than the T-Mo ones. VZW went and messed it up a bit for whatever reason at the last minute though.

Another source (not "the" source) is saying google/vzw/samsung are kicking 11/17 as the release date, now.

So? We can fill this thread up to 40K! :)

point made good sir, i had failed to take into consideration the fact that is an LTE device and the iPhone is not, hence a price difference aside from just the memory.
