I have a follow-up to this question. If you Pre-order will Verizon force you into their tiered data plan? I'm grandfathered into unlimited data and hope to keep that. Does that mean I should buy in store on release day to ensure that they keep me on my current data plan?

I think most of us DInc alums who preordered got it at least one day before launch. Mine came the day before for sure.

Especially considering how long the SGS2 took to get over here

I recall late last and early this year some rumors the SGS2 was coming to VZW, along with "evidence" it was true. I almost thought the Nexus would suffer the same info and reality fate until the statement by VZW of "Later this year".

I agree that until the launch dust settles for the Razr, we will probably hear little from VZW about the Nexus.

It shouldn't matter. Renewing your contract should allow you to keep your unlimited data plan regardless of pre-order.

Activating a new phone on an existing line does not end unlimited data. When you fill out your online order, it will have choices for data packages, and your unlimited plan should by default be picked. You can also call customer service and pre-order with a live person if you have concerns.

How sure are we that there will actually be a pre-order? Does VZW typically do this? I don't recall pre-order for Thunderbolt. Since that is the last phone I was seriously looking to purchase that's my only reference regarding pre-order.
  7. No you can keep unlimited data.

If that's the case I'm pre-ordering I've heard before that you usually get pre-orders a day or so before launch and why even have to wait in line to get it if you already know you want it. Just my opinion.

iPhone 4S had pre-order, and the RAZR has pre-order starting on 10/27. We have no idea yet if pre-order will be available for the SGN. My bet is on "no".

I got mine day of launch. I remember all the people in the Incredible thread talking about how they already got their phones and waiting by the phone for my wife to call and tell me it was in, but it never happened. I ended up taking the next day (actual launch day) off work so I could watch the mail for it to arrive.

I asked the same question in the Verizon thread with no answer.
There was or still is a glitch when using the Verizon online store to upgrade!
  12. I walked into store on launch day and was the first one there and then they sold out for months after that I got lucky. That was the only real android phone that was backordered and that was all because of screen shortages.

Just to add to my post..
There was no option for unlimited data plan, even if you have unlimited data it will not give you that option.

I'm not disappointed by the specs at all. I'm just weary of the constant refreshing of tech sites for any little crumb of new info, etc. I'm just burnt out. I want this phone just as badly as I ever have, but I'm just resigned to the fact that I will need to wait for it, and even if there is a deluge of leaks and rumors and info on this phone that come out today, it still will not change the fact that I can't purchase it yet. Until that day comes, I just don't care much about what rumors say regarding storage, SD slot, battery life, ICS, etc. I'm just tired of it all.

(Not in a negative way like I'm on a ledge. . .more like total indifference and an "It will get here when it gets here" attitude.)

I pre-ordered my wife's iPhone back in February and she got it delivered like 3 or 4 days before store release. I might go that route with the SGN.

Not sure. RAZR is their baby, so they want to commit as many orders as possible before SGN's date is released. That's why I think it's up for pre-order and that's why I'm sure we won't get a release date for SGN until a healthy number of people have pre-ordered the RAZR.

Bionic wasn't on pre-order, and I highly doubt it was because of a "We made them wait so long, let's not make them wait any more" attitude. They're not that kind. The lack of pre-order for the Bionic was because they knew it was a POS and that the real centerpiece of their 4G Droid lineup was coming barely 8 weeks later.

When VZW switched to tiered it was confirmed that you get to keep your plan. This is actually one of the few things VZW is VERY good about. I know people that still are on ALLTELL(sp?) plans from when VZW bought them, that's been like 10 yrs ago now.

what glitch? you lost your unlimited plan? You should be able to "preorder" or order over the phone to keep your plan then...

Its sounding like IF there is a pre-order, that is the way to go.
  17. Then back away go out and enjoy life like you tell everyone to. I mean come on its a phone. Burnt out? really? If you are burnt out you either need to get out and do something or reevaluate things in your life if you place that much emphasis on a phone.

I don't know if this is necessarily true. When they want to get as many hooked in as possible, they make each major release greater than 30 days as to dissuade as many people as possible from returning the last phone for the next phone. It happened with the Dinc and X and several other times. That is what is surprising by 3 coming within 30 days of each other. Legitimately, we could own all 3 of these (Razr, Vigor and Nexus) and return them. True you would pay $35 restocking fee for the one that you got but didn't want, but when you are talking about 2 years of your life, wouldn't $70 be worth it to some?
  19. return period is now 14 days not 30. Also you can only return a phone once then you are stuck with whatever you get the 2nd time.

I thought you were only allowed 1 return under this policy?

    what he said /\
  21. You are only allowed 1 return.

My bad, I didn't go from updated info, Here is the "Official" Exchange Policy from VZW.

14 days vs. 30 days. Either way you will be able to take at least TWO of these phones for a test drive.

If you order a phone online via Verizon Wireless,( upgrade). The Verizon web site would not grandfather unlimited data users. I do not know if they fixed this or not.

WTH? Did I say I was suicidal? I have no idea where that little tiff came from.

Besides, I can't enjoy life right now because I'm at work. I don't see how being tired of mining the net for little nuggets of false/possibly true rumors means I should back the hell out and reevaluate my life.

Put the claws away, man. If you need to tell someone to leave just because they're a little tired of false rumors, I think your fuse is a little shorter than mine.
