Official Remove The Verizon Branding ThreadTips

So it's definitely official now...we all know that the galaxy Note 2 on Verizon will have not just backplate branding but on the Home button as well.

A shame since there are plenty of ample other opportunities to let us know whose network we're using, (you know the one with the name on the back, it's apps on the phone, on the lock screen, on the homescreen and the one we pay our bills to monthly) More irksome since none of the other carriers deemed it necessary. I have yet to see one in a VZW store yet but did play with one at T-Mobile yesterday.

So what are our options for removing the branding on the button? I'm considering waiting for a site like

Samsung Galaxy Note Home Button -Black - Parts4repair.Com

to get Note 2 parts in. According to a friend who owns the original Note getting to the button isn't that difficult if you've got an eyeglass screwdriver set.

Yeah that is unfortunate, i really want a Note 2 but would seriously reconsider so i don't have to stare at that horrible branding all day lol.

I would agree with you with just waiting till a site offers to sell one.

I doubt I'll wait, I preordered mine already. After playing with one at T-Mobile yesterday it really is as fast as they say. Add to that I have huge hands and are 6'4" the size isn't that bad at all. it's SLIGHTLy taller and wider than my Galaxy Nexus. I'm a Global IT manager now, so it's kinda my gift to myself.

Even on the button? Has anyone confirmed if it's just painted on or if it's actually PART of and like under the surface of the button?

i'm almost 100% confident its painted on and will chip/peel away

think of how much more it would cost to do it any way other than painting it on post production

verizon is a grimy company, they do grimy things, so they aren't going to do something that is going to increase the cost of manufacturing

especially since they are selling the device for the same price (or cheaper) than its competitors

Gonna put some kind of sticker over it :)

As much as is being made of this topic, if I was one of these screen protector companies I would be working on this as we speak. For me personally, if ZAGG or somebody made a grey colored sticker to go over it & you couldn't see thru it, then it might be worth looking into.

I don't know...I guess I just don't see what the fuss is all about. At first I was a little annoyed, but at the end of the day it doesn't take away from what is a great device.

It doesn't take away from the sheer power of the device no. I was considering maybe using a little Sugru or something if it can't be easily scratched off. I just thought that Samsung was really hitting its stride design wise with the Galaxy nexus, the SIII and then this phone.

The SGP/Spigen Glas.t screen protector for the Galaxy S3 came with a little Home key nub sticker.
    See this video
Spigen GLAS Screen Protector - Samsung Galaxy S3 - YouTube

Send them SGP an email and ask them to source/produce the home key nubs for the Note 2 :)

I read a tip a long while ago to try for logos printed on top of the glass/plastic. It was to use a sugar cube. Abrasive enough to scrape off the decal/silk screen but not abrasive enough to scratch the glass.

Ever since the leaked photo of the Verizon variant appeared, folks have been going bat ish crazy about it hoping it was just a prototype. Now for those that like being bare, what are you going to do about that huge Verizon logo on the back. Or what?....that doesn't bother you?

Just about everything we own has some companies label of sorts on it. How is this any different than if instead of placing it on the home button it's somewhere else on the front of the phone? I'd rather it be on the home button than emblazoned below the speaker grill or embossed into the actual body of the phone itself. IF Sprint had done this I would've still gotten the phone.

This must be a trendy 20 something or teen thing. I could care less if it has a logo on the button. I'm in it for the performance and capabilities of the phone. I guess I'm too old for this over obsession with branding. The guy at the hat store gave me the weirdest look when I immediately took the stupid sticker off my new era hat. People are making it out like its a heinous crime to have that there and that it completely ruins the phone.

You sent it to Zagg? Why in the world would you send it to them!? If they steal the idea and make them they are going to be way overpriced, sold exclusively at Best Buy, have an orange peel texture, and only to be installed correctly when you buy a geek squad warranty for it.

Since SGP sourced/produced them for the Galaxy S3, SGP should be the ones contacted to source/produce them for the Note 2.

Or there is always Amazon. Something will turn up for the Note 2 after a few weeks I'm sure. Get Bedazzled Treb, you know you want to. samsung home button sticker

I could care less about the logo on the bdk it doesn't take away from the aesthetic of the phone. When no other model or phone before it had that logo on a home button...that's a decisive change

It may take more than a few months for the VZW logo to wear off. My supervisor has been field testing the Note 2 for the past few months. Playing with his is how I decided I wanted one. Anyway, the VZW logo on the button looks exactly as it did they day they sent it to him to test a few months ago. I heard a rumor about sand paper though, not sure who would want to risk that.... Here is one alternative.

Hopefully it's something like the one on my Bionic. That was SUPER easy to scratch off. :)

Verizon has always been the worst at carrier branding, it took months before they finally caved to Apple and it's just one of many reasons why Google won't be dealing with them in the near future.

A logo on a button, OH THE HUMANITY!

I mean really, a logo right on the home button for the entire world to see.
I can't show this off to anyone, they're all going to laugh at me.

As soon as mine arrives, I'm sending it back to let Verizon know just how much their logo on the button upsets me and ruined the experience of such a potentially wonderful device. There is no way I'm going to spend my money on something with a company logo on it.

In fact, I'm sending back my:
    60 inch Zenith plasma
    Coffee mug
    Alarm system panel
    Surround sound system

Oh well, my rant is over, time to go watch the smurfs and play tea party with my stuffed animals.

I had to overcome the horror of using my Logitech branded mouse and keyboard while staring at my Dell branded laptop screen :)
